What do you think about this? I have a small 2 bedroom apt. (with a nosy landlord) and my FH grandparents think their going to come and stay at my apartment the week before the wedding. Their from Puerto Rico. It's going to be total chaos the week be4 our wedding. My FH parents are separated, but they still talk. The father has a studio, so they wont go there. Grandma and father has a wired relationship. The last time she visited, she cared more about seeing her son, than she did about seeing her grandson. It made my FH feel bad. I know why she wants to stay at my apt. FH's father doesn't have a car and my apt. is a few blocks from his studio apt. Very Smart. She wont go to her nieces house in Babylon, LI. because how would she see her son.
I really wanted to have my maid-of-honor (my sister and the girls sleep over the night before.) my FH will be in a hotel the night be4. Then I think she'll think her next option will be my parents house, which is next door to me. My parents own the house but they may have people from Italy or Chicago come, my family. There is not that much room. How do you tell people who are OOT to go to a hotel room. Or find some else's house except the bride and bride-parents house. Am I wrong? FH has get up the guts to tell her and he agrees. I don't want to look like the bad guy, its his job to tell her.

Re: Grandma and Grandpa coming to stay or not?
I have a similar issue - FH and I live together with my daughter in a 3 bedroom apt. The night before the wedding, he will stay at a hotel with his stepson and his brother (the BM), who's coming in from Florida. He (FH) told his mother, who's coming in from Puerto Rico, and his sister in law and niece (from Florida) that they can stay in the house with me! I told him he was nuts!! We may have 3 bedrooms but we only have 1 bathroom! How am I supposed to relax and prepare for my own wedding with a house full of people?

Re: Grandma and Grandpa coming to stay or not?
I opened my house and gave up my room for DH's relatives from PR. I was so glad that they could make it. So I stayed the night at my aunt's house and got ready there. MY BP went out with me that night, but I wanted a good night sleep anyway, so we sperated after the bar.

You need to have peace and quiet the night before your wedding. Tell them they can stay for the week (if you can stand it) but they need to make other arrangements the night before the wedding. Or better yet let FH tell FFIL to take care of it. This is not something you should have to be worrying about.

your right, and how do you entertain? It's too much. You want to relax. FH has to tell them. She called us and left a message 2 weeks ago and my FH has to tell her soon and not a week be4 the wedding. Ya know? The week be4, i dont plan to entertain anyone or cook. Too busy.

Re: Grandma and Grandpa coming to stay or not?
My grandmother isn't coming to our wedding because she has to stay in the hotel.
I REFUSE to let ANYONE stay at our house the night before the wedding. Our co-op is small enough and with me, my mom, sister, 2 hairdressers and the photographer.... there will be too many people there as it is.

I'm sorry to hear that. But its your wedding and they have to understand. I wouldnt stay at someones house if it was their wedding. That's just rude. Family or not. I wouldnt do that to someone.

I'm in the same boat. As of right now I have 10 people coming from Italy! In addition to planning for the wedding, I have to get the house ready for them. Thankfully we have a finished basement with a bathroom so I'm working on fixing that up. Plus they are planning on coming mid-end August and I'm not getting married until the end of October.I'm happy they're coming, but its just stressful.

Maybe you could stay someplace else the night before?

No need to be sorry - it's my wishes.... and the fact that a small place and a lot of people on an already stressful day is not a good combination.

Re: Grandma and Grandpa coming to stay or not?
My Grandma (Grammie) is staying with me two days before the wedding. She's the absolute best...plus she's 93...I don't want her staying in a hotel. My Mother (her Daughter) passed away a few years ago, so it'll be nice to have her with me. FH will go to a hotel the night before the wedding.
Oh...and I told my Brother (& kids) and Father...they MUST go to a hotel... I can't even imagine having them around... total chaos!!!
(All are from OOT.)

Re: Grandma and Grandpa coming to stay or not?
I will not sleep in a hotel, i would be up all night if i'm not in my bed. I blew off my cousins (from italy) from staying in my apartment, now its his turn to tell his grannie and she is capable of staying at other families house or even her friend. She's only coming to see FH's father anyway bc he has an apt. a few blocks away. They have a wacky relationship like that. Sad.
