Grandma's 87th birthday! What should I get her?

The woman has everything!!!!!! And she hates celebrating her birthday! But I want to get her something! Help me girlies!

SOMETHING USEFUL like $ for oil bills or something. I mean flowers and such are great at 87 do you really need another sweater?

I always have this problem with my grandma too! She’s going to 90 this year, and she never wants anything for her birthday. So I usually just get her flowers, which she complains about (because she doesn’t want ANYTHING for her birthday), or if I’m very lucky she’ll let me take her out to dinner.

Dinner somewhere she really likes, maybe?

What about a subscription to something? My sister and I used to prepay my grandparent's cable. Are there magazines that she likes or does she have the newspaper delivered?

My great grandmother is the same age and she loves reading books. That is just about the only thing she needs, because she goes through one a day!

First off, Happy Birthday Grammy!! That's awesome that she is here to celebrate her 87th!!

I would give her something like the other posters suggested, like pay a bill or something. Or maybe hire a garndner for her for the spring (if she still owns her own home, etc.).

Or I would get something like a throw/afghan at 'Things Remembered' with maybe something personal embroidered on it. If she's anything like my grandma, she's forever cold

I love all of your suggestions!! We are taking her out to dinner... and we will buy her flowers and candy.... she has a real sweet tooth!!! LOL.... she also loves to read! She reads a book in an hour as well.... too funny! So, maybe I will look for a book to get her as well! Thanks so much girls!

It really sounds as if you're describing my grandma...sweet tooth, bookworm, doesn't like celebrating her birthday.... maybe all grandmas are like this

I think you decided...but what about a frame that you can put pictures of all her grandkids in? maybe her children too?
