Grandmother's Dress

Grandmother's Dress

Thank g-d I still have one grandmother on my mothers side, and we were on a wild goose chase looking for a dress for her this past week. We hit Saks (the one that is closing in Garden City) Lord and Taylor (Garden City), Macy's, and Loehmann's and we couldn't find anything....She wants a two piece, a nice structured jacket and a dress underneath, with some beading, very delicate, classic and elegant...where else should we look. I'm thinking of taking her to my daughters wedding in Great Neck and possibly the Lord and Taylor in Manhasset...any other recommendations would be immensly appreciated....

Thanks!

Believe it or not, you should check out Estelle's Dressy Dresses in Farmingdale, off Rte. 110--they have a HUGE selection of dresses for mother of bride, grandmother's etc. The prices are reasonable.

There's also a great dress shop right on Main Street in northport, called Dorothy Walsh. She has very elegant dresses and she can order you anything---and what a doll!

I've also heard of some dress store in Astoria, but i don't know the name---all of the Italian ladies in my future family get their wedding garb there. Maybe someone else on the board knows the name?

good luck!
