Hello Brides, Does anyone have any information about grants or first time buyer incentives being offered? We are trying to purchase a home in Massapequa. This time last year a friend of mine received 20,000 for buying a home, but now I can't seem to find any current informaiton on it.

Grants/first time buyer incentives - Long Island Weddings
I know this is a really old post but I'm wondering if someone can tell me the same thing and if you got an answer..... what are the current first time home buyers grants or incentive? where can I find them? And does Nassau and Suffolk county have different grants?

I know there are different grants depending on where you're looking to buy. My cousin lives out east by the wineries and she got a grant from the Peconic Bay Land & Trust. Another friend of mine just got a grant for $32,000 from a Long Island Housing Project!
The thing that I've found which I think is annoying is that if you want to apply for a grant, they'll typically need to see that you have the pre-approval from the bank for the house, enough money for the downpayment of 20% in your account, a house you already have in mind and a broker you're working with because the grant will be issued to them in your name towards the balance of the house. The grants I've seen don't apply towards a downpayment, just towards your overall mortgage, but I don't know if they're all like that.

The income requirements on these are kind of low though, for the price of house they say you can up to. How can someone afford a 410k home and make 65k a year total household income. (This is for 2 ppl) Would they even approve that mortgage
