Gratuities

Gratuities

Does anyone know how gratuities work on your wedding day(and how much/percent is appropriate)?

What if you have a live band...do you tip the entire band together or everyone separate?

What about the florist?

DOC?

Officiant?

Photographer?

Any help is greatly appreciated....and if I am missing anyone please let me know!

Re: Gratuities

I haven't had my wedding yet, so I can only give you what I think I might do..

Band - I think we will tip each one individually - not sure how much though since we have an 8 person band and we are already paying a lot of $$ - maybe $15-$20 a person depending on how good they are

Florist - I think you usually tip the delivery person $10 or so

DOC - I think it will depend on the service. My package includes two people so maybe $30 each?

Officiant - I don't think you tip them, but not sure on this one...maybe you can just make a donation.

Photographer - again it depends on the day of service. We are having 2 photographers on the day of the wedding - maybe $50 - $100 each?

I haven't had mine either, but this sounds pretty accurate. As for the officiant, I know that you usually make a 'donation' and also tip the other people who are there (the music, if there are alter servers, people cleaning up afterwards, etc). I plan on tipping my band separately, but that's just something FH and I decided

I found this article in a bride's magazine. Maybe it will help.

Re: Gratuities

This is what we did. I THINK. In the end DH handled the tips. When it was multiple people, like the photography, video and DJ companies, al of which we worked with the owner for, we gave one envelope to the owner that said 'Artisan Photo, Thank you, Chuck and Staff'. In general i wish we could have tipped more but we ran out of dough.

At the hall

Maitre'D gets $3-5 pp. We had 150ish guests. I think we tipped $600.

Bridal Attendants $100 each. We were supposed to have 2, but day of, we had a third, luckily, Dh had an extra $100.

Florist - I tipped the delivery guy who came to my house $20. He also decorated the whole front of my house with tulle and bows. The people who delivered to church and the hall didn't get anything since I didn't see them.

Organist: $40. He stepped in at the last minute when the normal organist cancelled. We didn't tip officiants. One was the parish priest. maybe we;'ll get him a gift at some point and the Rabbi we paid close to $1000, all of which is going directly into his pocket, no overhead costs, so I felt no need.

Limos: I think we tipped each driver (limo and rolls) $40, and then $20 for the driver who picked us up at the end of the night..who turned out to be the Rolls driver. Loved him. Kevin from Camelot, you're awesome!

Photo: $150. We had 2 photogs (one was owner) and an assistant. Wish we could have given more.

Video: $150. 2 videogs. One was owner.

DJ: DJ and MC. MC was owner. $100.

I also tipped the hair and MUA pretty well.
