Great bridal shower ideas...

... from my shower!!

My surprise bridal shower was yesterday, and I was so touched and excited by all of the details that were attended to by my mom, my grandma, and my bridal party. I thought I would share these ideas with you in case you want to use them for a special bride-to-be in your life.

1) A twist on the typical recipe box: My fiance likes to cook, while I on the other hand would much prefer to dine out rather than whip something up in the kitchen. My bridal party knows this about us, and so they made a 'Recipe/Reservation Box' for us. Enclosed with the invitation, they inserted the following poem along with a pink index card and a blue index card:

Enclosed in this invite, are two cards for you.
The pink's for the bride, for the groom is the blue.

Since [Groom's Name] is the cook, on the blue card please write
A favorite recipe to serve [Bride's Name] each night.

And our lovely bride isn't picky, you see
She doesn't need a delicious recipe.

Instead, on the pink card write your restaurant recommendations,
Because [Bride's Name] is experienced at making dinner reservations.

Please don't forget to bring these cards with you
to [Bride's Name]'s Surprise Shower
on August Twenty Two!

Then, each guest brought their cards with them to the shower and put them in the Recipe/Reservation box for us!!! It was such a perfect idea for us!

2) I LOVE candy! Knowing this, my bridal party read the following poem at the shower. Each bridesmaid read one paragraph, and with each word highlighted in capital letters below the girl would hold up the corresponding candy item. They then placed the candy in a basket for me to take home - yum yum!!! So cute!!

As we come here to celebrate the bride today, we give you plenty of RIESEN why she and her groom are meant to be and promise it will bring many CHUCKLES.

She grew up in a JOLLY RANCHER in New YORK and one day we all hope that she and her groom will have a penthouse on FIFTH AVENUE.

She is MOUNDS of fun to be around. She is such a funny GOOBER with a CAREFREE spirit.

She knew her groom was her SUGAR DADDY as he told HERSHEY was the best SWEDISH FISH in the sea.

The happy couple have always been such SMARTIES. As their LEMONHEADS work together, they always cross the T's and DOTS the I's.

Just remember that once you have your RING-POP, you will vow to be together NOW AND LATER as you go along your MILKY WAY.

When you go on your honeymoon, make sure you take a FUN DIP in the ocean and have WHOPPERS of happiness.

We hope that you will enjoy many PAYDAYS of 100 GRAND and celebrate it with a home filled with SUGAR BABIES.

3) The girls made me a scrapbook which was passed around and guests were asked to sign it with their best wedding advice for us!! There was also another scrapbook with pictures and poems from my high school friends.

4) They made a 'Groom's Wishing Well' which was a hamper decorated to look like a groom (e.g. the front of the hamper was decorated to have a tuxedo front on it!) On the invitation, guest were asked to bring gifts for the 'Groom's Wishing Well', which meant that the guests should bring things that the groom would like. After the shower, my fiance had fun opening the groom's presents - he got stuff like golf balls and other things that he could enjoy. He also got stuff that we could use around the house.

5) There were lots of other cute stuff at the shower such as an adorable personalized Hershey bar with our baby pics on it. The party favor was a pie server with a silhouette of a bride on it.

I was so touched by everything that was done for me, and thought these ideas were so cute!

My friend just got back from a bridal shower this weekend and was telling me about what they did. How great is this....they played a version of the newlywed game where they actually videotaped the groom answering the questions so that they could play it back while playing the game at the shower. I'm not sure of the rest of the details but my friend said they did an awesome job. Just thought it was a cute idea and I'd share.

I was at FH's cousin;s shower yesterday and there were TONS of cool stuff...

They had a 'salad' basket with sald bowls and huge serving bowl, tons of venegars, and fancy dressings, toppings..it was huge..

My 'wine basket' was a hit, but she got FOUR of them!!

She got baskets for each time of the year with stuff to decorate like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Haloween, New Years, Valentines Day , St. Patricks Day, Fourth of july...

She got a bag of the month with things like Champange for January, Love coupns and nightie for Febuary, a Outside OFF bug repellant lamp for August...holiday stuff for those months, Sunblock and BBQ tools for July...VERY CUTE!

She also got one of those wrapping paper hamper looking Stoage things FILLED with tons of wrapping paper, bags, tissue paper, cards for all holidays, b-day's etc...tape...IT was very nice!!

An I loved the ironing board dressed up with a mop for hair, strainer as head, slippers as feet , pot holders as hands etc...

TONS of great ideas!!!

ETA- I forgot one...she got a box filled with tons of thanks you cards, stamps, and a nice pen...I'm asking for that at MINE!
