Great Neck Rehersal Dinner?

Great Neck Rehersal Dinner?

Any ideas? We spent hours looking around Middle Neck Road today and couldn't find anything with a private room to hold 75 people. Who knew Great Neck has such tiny restaurants? Our OOT guests are staying at the Inn at Great Neck and we really wanted to keep the RD in walking distance. The Inn at GN will do our RD in a banquet room but their prices are ridiculous!

not walking distance but not too far (can take cabs)

Try

Giordiano's
George Martin's

both on Douglaston Pkwy & Northern Blvd

Also try

Vespa
Il Bacco

Both on Northern Blvd & Little Neck Pkwy

Also, they could take the train two stops west and go to Bayside

Burbon Street
Erawan Steak & Seafood
Sullivans

What about Leonard's? Many brides have had their weddings there, so should def be able to handle a private rehearsal dinner.

Vespa has amazing italian food! (About a 15-20 minute walk from the Inn at Great Neck.) They have two rooms so they might be able to accommodate you...but the rooms are very small. I dont know if you could squeeze 75 people into either room.

I know Guardino's off of Douglaston Pkwy does small parties upstairs. I have never been there, but I assume the food has to be decent since it's owned by Russo's.

If I think of anywhere else that is fairly large in size in Great Neck, I'll let you know, but I think those are you two best bets!

hello?!?!?! Peter Luger's!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously, you cant go wrong. and i dont know if I would necessarily walk there from the Inn (i work on cutter mill and also live in great neck) but it would literally be a 2 second car/cab ride. check it out.

I would LOVE to have our RD at Lugers. Our guests would be psyched. But we called and their private room only holds 60 and I think it would end up costing well over $100pp there

Picolo Busolo in Mineola does do large parties there and it is family style Italian

It's not really far (Jericho Tpke & Willis Ave)

d@mmit!!! hmmm.... vespa is also really yummy like others have said. there is a really amazing little italian place thats inexpensive and delicious called La Giaconda thats right up the block from the Inn (right across from the train station) but, its a small place and i dont know them to have a private room - but if you are having a larger party then you just may be able to have the whole place because its really not that big. might be worth looking into.

also, i dont know if you were interested in greek food but there is a fairly new greek restaurant on middle neck called ethos thats pretty good too.

I believe Ethos is very expensive as well

I had my RD at the Inn At Great Neck, it was definitely pricey (thank you MIL!), but maybe you could work with them? I know that the Giraffe restaurant has a price fixe menu, its like $28pp, and they have a separate room. Maybe you could do something like that?

Re: Great Neck Rehersal Dinner?

Thank you all so much for all the wonderful suggestions. It's a shame we have such a big OOT list because lots of these places looked great but only fit like 50 or 60 people.

My FH is going to call the Inn at Great Neck today and see if he can work with them on prices. I think that if that works out, it could be our best option b/c it's convenient and has the space for us. We did another RD list last night and it was actually close to 85 people!!

Re: Great Neck Rehersal Dinner?

I'm not sure if this would be an option for you...but there is a restaurant/brick oven pizzeria on Middle Neck road called La Rotonda. It's not dumpy, but not 'fine dining'. I personally have never been to the new one yet, but I have been to the one on Bond Street and the food is pretty good. My FH and I go there often (we live in Great Neck).
I overheard a few women talking about the new one on Middle Neck Road at the pool the other day (b/c i am always eavesdropping, lol). One of them said that there is an upstairs. I'm not sure how big it is, but you might want to give them a call. I'll try to convince my FH to go with me this week b/c I really want to check it out or i'll take a walk over there for you. :)
How much are you looking to spend pp?

Here is a link to a short article written about the new restaurant.

Re: Great Neck Rehersal Dinner?

Thanks so much! We'll look into that one. I'm not sure how much my FH's parents are looking to spend. I don't think they want to spend a ton but they're not on a strict budget either. I'm guessing maybe like $50-60pp would be okay with them?? Not sure.
