Great new i had to share

so im a teacher and i have student loans out from my masters degree...
well i just got a notice in the mail that bc i teach in a low income school my loans have been forgiven...all $16,000.00!!!!

i am soooo happy!!!!

Make sure...I worked in a SURR school and when I called Sally Mae they said, yes, 2 years in a SURR school and congress passed the bill that loans should be forgiven. Then she chuckled...however, they did not pass the part of the bill that allowed for the FUNDING to forgive the loans.

I hope things have changed since then!!!

Thats great. I am pursing my social work degree and have also hear that you can get them forgiven if you work with special needs childrens or adults....which I do

That's such a weight off of your shoulders!

I didn't get mine entirely forgiven, but I got an AmeriCorps grant that allowed me to waive $10,000 of them! This means I don't have to pay again until after the wedding, and that I only have about $7,000 left. It's a great feeling!
