great way to start the morning of my 1st fitting....

i have my dress home with me already.. so i go take it out to try it on..ya know to make sure it still fits before i try to put it on in the store in front of people since i havent tried it on in a few months... so i call my mom out to help me zip it up.. big mistake. she gets it zipped up fine, it still feels the same as the day i bought it. but then she starts telling me how i gave up on myself and i was doing so well with weight watchers.. and calls me a porker and sh*t.... like i need to hear this today?? i know im fat, but why the hell did she need to do that to me on the morning of my 1st fitting??? so now i will be upset and even more self conscious than i already am while i try the dress on in front of strangers. she is not thin herself.. but she recently lost 20 lbs on jenny craig, so she thinks she can tell me to lose weight and call me a porker now... she has always been like this too.. she tells me she is just trying to help me.. but all it does is make me even more depressed and sad... she doesnt know how to help!!! her definition is the opposite of help.

awwww i am so sorry...do not let her get you down...You said she RECENTLY lost 20 pounds so obviously it was something she also struggled with so maybe tell her to remember when she was struggling with this and how she felt and to be a little more supportive...I am sure you look beautiful in your dress

Ugh, I'm so sorry that you're feeling bad. My mom can be brutal as well so I know where you're coming from. At least your dress still fits perfect and I'm sure you look gorgeous in it!

People who pick on others have insecurities of their own. I'm sure you look fabulous in your gown and you are going to make a beautiful bride.

i had to drop out of WW because I no longer can afford it. My money is so tight and i have nothing anymore. I have so far not gained anything but I haven't lost anything. I keep trying to do it on my own but its deff. hard when you don't get that support. My mom is the same way - heavy and she thinks by telling you that yoru fat or you shouldn't eat something they are helping but htey are not. They hurt you more but its the way they can deal with their guilt and pain.

I can't say ignore her but deff. tell her how she made you feel. She should know she was wrong. That and realize your amazing - you have a fh that is marrying you and a great dress and amazing day arriving and keep that in mind and you should be able to keep up with your goals.

i'm so sorry - my mom is the EXACT same way and that is why i'm in therapy now....32 years of being told you aren't pretty enough and are way too fat (while she's twice as large as i am) really have a way of sinking in and messing you up!!!

My mom just did something similar to me the other day, She just got a tummy tuck and looks wonderful, but my flab was sticking out and she grabbed it and said whats this? and it made me self conscious! Iam not fat but I really need to lose a few pounds and tighten up my stomach and arms. But I know how you feel, its like now they feel better about themselves they think they can say wht they want.
