great wedding this weekend
one of my friends from childhood got married this weekend in a semi-destination wedding in montauk...it was a fantastic weekend i must say...she had several hotels to choose from, we stayed at the royal atlantic beach resort for two nights (fri and sat) and we had an ocean view, pool view room...when you drive up, you don't expect much, but the rooms are nice and upgraded...we had a suite with a full fridge, small cooktop stove, pots, pans, glasses, etc...and a balcony which was great...steps to the beach...couldnt have asked for a nicer more convienent spot...also within walking distance to town and church (if you wanted to walk!)...
her church was right on the east side of town and the priest was great...
and her reception was at the montauk lake club...a smaller manor/estate home..they tented the patio and extended it to over the grass for the party...food was delish
what i loved about her wedding was how non-traditional it was...in the spirit of her crazy dance/club personality, they came in to a big 'fist pumping' house song and got everyone on the dance floor with them...everyone was going crazy! and this continued for like 3 or 4 songs...there was no '1st dance' and while the groom shared a dance during dinner with his mom, there were no official mother/father dances...instead of a wedding cake, they had a huge pie station and passed chocolate mousse shots...
and above all, her DJ was awesome...especially if you are into hard house dance music...he just had the greatest selection and kept all the young people on the floor all night...really a great time!!
