Great...Now what (long)

Great...Now what (long)

I ordered a cathedral length veil from Priscilla of Boston back in March. They told me that it would not be in until the end of July because the lace and beading is all hand done. I was fine with that because my wedding isn't until Nov. Plus I needed time to save up money to pay for it...lol

Fast forward to last week. My cousin who is getting married this Sunday ordered our BM dresses from there, so I called to confirm my appointment to pick up her BM dress as well as my veil. No problem. I get there and the BM dress is ready to go but the veil is MIA. Now mind you when I went to get fitted the 1st time for the BM dress back in the beginning of August my veil had JUST come in that morning so I physically saw my veil and I was so excited about it... They needed to press it and I figured I'd pick it up in a few weeks with the BM dress. Now they have all the employees looking for this veil and its no where to be found. This was on Friday.

I just get a call from them saying that they are so sorry about the situation with the missing veil but they inadvertnly gave my veil to another bride... I didn't know what to say but laugh...they offered to to credit my card the deposit - In hindsight the veil WAS gorgoues and I LOVED it BUT it was too expensive...too much money to spend on something I will only wear that day...but now I 'm worried that I won't be able to find something similiar to it and get it in time...or am I just being paranoid???

What I don't get is how did that bride NOT realize that it wasn't the veil she ordered??? guess thats why they call in Bride Brain...you become oblivious to things at this point in planning...

I think its great that you are able to laugh about this!! Some brides would think this is the end of the world, but you are able to understand its just a veil!!
If it had that much handwork, you probably won't be able to get one like it, but you can certainly get one that will be beautiful! Try ebay or Barrons in the tricounty flea market!

for your attitiude!!

first, your attitude about the whole thing is great sweetie. I applaud you BIG time for not going bridezilla

now, you still have some time. do you think you could try Barrons in LI or go the the garment district in the city (this is where I got my veil) there are plenty of small stores will veils that will do just fine. if you don't mind pounding the pavement just a bit, I am sure you will find something lovely.

Thanks like I said its just a veil and I'm fine with not getting it as long as I have no problem replacing it in time...if I can't you may want to retract that comment about my attitude

I guess I will be taking a ride to tri-county this week...anyone else have other suggestions for places to look...I'm loking for a cathedral length veil with lace trim...mantilla style

I would try www.bridesave.com or www.veilshop.com or even ebay - brides sell their veils all the time!

Do you have a picture of the veil, or something similar? I had my veil made by my seamstress, but it didn't have beading, only a lace edge.

Good Luck!

Either she was really oblivious or your veil was so much nice and more expensive so she didn't say anything.

I don't have an EXACT picture of the veil that I would have gotten...this is what it would have looked like gove or take a few beads...lol

Barron's at Tri-County can make you one that looks like that. Here is a pic of the mantilla they made for me! Don't mind the lack of makeup. You can see the back of the veil in the mirror.

AWWWW That stinks-but I bet you the other bride realized she was given the wrong veil and kept her mouth shut-she probably LOVED it. I would definetly check the flea markets and E-bay-everyday.
