We're looking into Mykonos, Crete, Santorini and Corfu. Our price range is about 5K (not including the flight) and we'll be there in late August / early September.
Thanks so much in advance, girls!

Re: Greece
Late Aug/early Sept will still be a bit pricey, especially on the popular islands that you mentioned. My best suggestion would be to go to a travel agent to get ideas and prices. Also, keep in mind that domestic flights within Greece are VERY expensive these days. There are a lot of ferries, but they can sometimes take a long time to get to where you're going. Once again, a travel agent who specializes in trips to Greece would be able to make good recommendations about what to do in those cases (Santorini and Crete are relatively close to each other, but Corfu is very far from anything you mentioned).
Contact Crown Peters and Homeric Tours in Astoria to get an idea of prices and discuss hotel options.
Also, the US dollar is VERY weak against the Euro these days, so a budget of $5000 will not stretch very far when you take into account hotel, domestic travel, food, and incidentals. You may consider changing your itinerary to just 2 or 3 islands rather than 4, that way you can spend more time enjoying the places themselves. Crete alone requires at least 2 weeks to see the whole thing! And you'll probably want to rent a car in Crete to go to its various points of interest...I speak from experience! If you want to see several or more islands hassel-free in one trip, you may consider a tour package or cruise package (even if just for a portion of your vacation time)...again, something to discuss with a professional travel agent.
If you need more info, please feel free to FM me!

Re: Greece
Hotel Grand Bretagne. FH and I just stayed there this summer. It's right in the middle of constitutional square, across from the prime ministers office. We got to watch the parade with the changing of the guards. It was actually quite interesting to see. The acropolis is only a few blocks away. The hotel was absolutley beautiful and the rooms were gorgeous. Great service too. Only downfall is that the pool area is small and is on the roof with not much sun space.
