I am Catholic and my FH is GO. We decided to get married in the GO church. I know every church is different , some churches may me stricter than others. I need help looknig for a modernized church in Queens or LI. I need a church that will perform most of the ceremony in english. I heard that in the GO ceremony the bride and groom don't exchaneg vows...is this true? and If so....can we add the exchanging of the vows to our ceremony?!?! Soooo confused!!!!! Help!

Re: Greek Orthodox Church Questionsssss
Hi. Actually, you will be hard pressed to find a greek church that will let you recite vows, just because the ceremony is very specific on what needs to be done to be 'married'. In any event, I am getting married at St. Constantine in downtown brooklyn. The priest is very modern and will likely be a good fit. I also know of one other place. IFM me if you need more details.

Re: Greek Orthodox Church Questionsssss
I got married in St. Demetrios in Astoria, which i think is a rather modern church.
I dont think any church will have a problem doing a majority of the ceremony in English. As long as you let them know before hand what you want - it shouldnt be a problem.
I really cant help you with exchanging vows though. I think the information that one of the girls gave above - re: catholic priest taking a part in the ceremony is accurate

Re: Greek Orthodox Church Questionsssss
HI. I think i just posted to another of your question.. Well i got married at ST. Nicholas in Flushing. I too am Catholic and Husband is GO. Father Paul performed our ceremony, he is trully the best. As far as exchanging vows, they didn't allow it, however they will allow for the catholic father to say a blessing at the end of the GO ceremony. Hope this helps... =0)
