Just wanted to check in and say hello from Shanghai! I arrived safely and figured out how to access to wireless internet in my room.
It took me about 25 hours from the time I left my house until the time I got into my hotel room. I had a short layover in Tokyo, too.
So far all I can say is that Shanghai looks much better at night. It's a really odd place, though the hotel is amazing. It helps that someone who works here already complimented me on my ring! haha! There is a lot of construction going on, and there is a very odd mix of very old, rundown buildings and government housing alongside huge, modern sky scrapers.
It's 8am here, and I just arrived last night, so I haven't seen much except what I can see from my hotel room and the drive from the airport to the hotel. So far, it's not too exciting, though I hear Beijing will be better. We'll see!
I've already spoken to FH twice since I arrived and he's supposed to give me a call in a few minutes here. He was my 'wake up' call this morning... but the jet lag decided to wake me up earlier. Thankfully I did get more than 8 hours sleep last night and am actually feeling like it's morning - and not 7pm like it is in NY.
I'll be working a lot over the next couple weeks here in China, but hope to check in when I can and read some threads.
