This site has been very helpful for my fiancee and I, so I figured to give it a try for a small issue we're having in our wedding planning. I've posted this same topic in the Grooms forum as well, but I'm hoping a woman's touch will have the answer to this.
We're getting married on a Saturday in late October of 2008 at the Swan Club in Glenwood Landing. All of our guests however, are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn of Westbury. We've already taken care of shuttle service.
The issue is that our wedding is during the day, and with alot of guests coming out of town, we're looking to have an after-party of sorts for everybody, including people who we could not invite to the wedding, to gather at in the evening.
We looked into Dave and Buster's across the way, and we were thinking of trying to see what Mirage Night Club can offer (I haven't been there in years, and I know it's more for young adults, but I thought they may be able to set something up from 7-10pm. However, we do have people under 21 attending the wedding).
Would any of you guys have any ideas or had a similar issue? I'm looking to have it in the Westbury/Carle Place/Mineola/Garden City area.

Re: Groom looking for Wedding After Party advice
im not from the area so i have no idea what is around there - but i do know that one of the 08 brides - jenlen - did a bowling afterparty....i think she has pictures in her album - it looked like A LOT of fun - bowling alleys usually have a bar and food and it looked like a lot of the guests were bowling - even the bride did in her dress....im not sure what you guys are into but i think it would be a lot of fun and is good since you are also having under 21 guests....
Does the Hilton have a bar/lounge area? Sometimes hotels offer an after-party type thing....

Check with your hotel - sometimes they have ballrooms or meeting rooms they can set up for you

Re: Groom looking for Wedding After Party advice
We also had a daytime wedding and wanted to do something afterwards. We booked our hotel based on their bar - it was open until 2AM, was large enough to hold everyone, and served snacks if we wanted.
Worked out great, we bout the first round then everyone took care of themselves (otherwise it gets soooo expensive). We got to the hotel abou 6:15, a lot of wedding guests came also, but by 9:30 I begged exhaustion and went upstairs.
Only thing is, if you do an after party somewhere else, are you going to provide transportation again ? If you don't do Dave & Buster's, find out if the Hilton has a lounge area where you could bring in outside liquor and beer for your own party. There's also City Cafe on Stewart Avenue, or if you want to venture into Garden City, there are a couple of places on Franklin Avenue (BK Sweeney's comes to mind).
