Grooms cake?

Grooms cake?

How many of you ladies are planning to have one? I know it's mainly a Southern thing, but I had a really cute idea for one....

Also, do you usually have it at the Rehearsal Dinner or at the actual reception?

P.S. - My FI loves horse racing

Re: Grooms cake?

We plan to have one... FH loves carmel cakes. You usually have it at the reception. Someone told me it's the cake you can have boxed up to give guests.

Re: Grooms cake?

I am surprising FH with one that will look like one of his guitars...it's his passion in life (besides me!!) I am choosing to have it at the RD (if the restaurant lets me) because that is only 60 people versus all the guests at the wedding!!!

Re: Grooms cake?

Another question - where should I look to find a bakery to make one? I am located in Queens and getting married in Nassau.....

That cake is so cute!
A few people here have done the grooms cake. I've heard of it being done at the rehearsal dinner also, which is nice because then it doesn't get over shadowed by the wedding cake.

Re: Grooms cake?

I am having one at the RD because I think my FH and his family will really be able to enjoy it there. I am looking into Audrey's bakery in Sayville. Call them and ask if they will make one.

Re: Grooms cake?

I'm hoping I can find someone who can make the cake round instead - I think it would look so cool if the horse was kind of 'running' around the track!

Re: Grooms cake?

I like the idea about having it at the RD. I might just do that.

I wonder if I can find a bakery that will make it in the shape of an XBOX? FH would love that!
