How far in advance should I order one? Also, can someone recommend a baker in nassau county?

My rehearsal dinner is may 10th.

TIA

To answer your question, no I do not know one in Nassau Just in Suffolk (but a GREAT one--worth the drive). Audrey's Baked Goods in West Sayville...really amazing. They are doing the mascott from my FH's college for me!!
To answer the other question I saw on here. A groom's cake is originally a Southern tradition as an alternative to the wedding cake that was specifically for the groom and is designed to reflect a part of his personality or something that is important to him. This way, guests have two choices of desserts at least and the groom feels special in his own way.
My FH loved to play football in HS, he was the captain of his team, I could have done that, I ended up choosing something from his college, you could choose a certain car your FH likes... things like that.
I'm also making what the cake is made out of reflect my FH. He loves cherries on the inside of chocolate cake and dark chocolate icing so that's what I'm doing... and with a little red food dye he has his school colors!! I'm very excited... Good Luck to all!

Are you guys having it at the wedding, or at the rehearsal dinner? I was thinking of surprising my FH with a golf-themed one at the rehearsal dinner.

Wow...I really like this idea, never would have thought of that. I might do that...I wasn't having a grooms cake at all, but now I am rethinking this.
