For those of you who had or are having a grooms cake: 1. about how much do they run 2. where did you order it and how far in advance? Thanks!

Audreys Bakery does an amazing job and they can range depending on how big and intricate but are generally so reasonable. I'll FM you.
Im sure you can add it to your cake order at any time probably up until a few wks before, but Im not positive.

When I was looking the cheapest I got was 150$ but I just called the same girl and her prices are now 250-300 start!

I had considered getting a Mets cake done, someone on LIW had posted theirs and it came out awesome....it was ordered from Riesterer's Bakery in W. Hempstead, and I think it was around $250 if I remember correctly

Grooms cakes usual start range is between $200-$300 in my knowledge and experiance.

Dortoni in Levittown is doing mine! They are also making my wedding cake. I am getting Yankee Stadium for $250, but they had other things for closer to $100. It depends on how high/elaborate you want to get. You can walk right in and look at their books and taste samples, too. Or check it out on their website . Good lUck

thats probably what i was gonna get - but i cant see spending that much $$ on something we're gonna cut up and eat lol maybe i can DIY one

Can I add a question to this thread??
I want to get a grooms cake for my FH but I dont know when or where you present it to him. Does it go on display durring the reception? At the rehersal dinner? I've never been a part of wedding with a grooms cake so I really dont know what youre supposed to do with them. TIA.

Or, you could get one for the RD, then it would be smaller- I think when I priced it for our e-party it would've been around $125. we decided not to get it since our package came with a cake.

I am doing ours at the RD bc I figured there will be soooooo much food and desserts at the wedding. This way, people will actually eat it!!!! It is a surprise for Fh. I went to a wedding where they had one, and it was on a separate little table near the cake table. But I don;t think it was a surprise. If you want it to be a surprise at the reception, you could show it to him when the photog takes you in the room to take a few pics before the people get in there. He could even get a pic of FH''s reaction!

Mine is much less expensive than what all of you have said. How many are you getting it to serve?? Im doing it for just like 25-20 ppl and theyre really reasonable. This is prob bc I am just doing it for FH and bridal party.
Prices listed so far are more like my regular cake for my wedding for 75 ppl! Sheesh.

I'm using Sweet Karma, an LIW Vendor. I'm having him make a scrabble board, which I designed and it's only costing like $60. They made my MOH's groom's cake for her and my bridal shower cake, which was amazing! (pics in my album) Good luck!
