I hear brides talk about it, but I don't understand what it is. An extra cake for only the groom to eat? What's the point? Does everybody do this, and i've just been out of the loop?

Re: grooms cake
It is a cake for the groom. Usually given to him at the reception or the rehearsal dinner. I gave it to my groom as an extra token to him to make him feel special, since the whole wedding is really 'centered' around the bride. Maybe there is a whole history behind it though
The one I got was shaped like a heineken. DH loves beer

Re: grooms cake
I had it at our reception... and I had them serve it next to the wedding cake, so everyone ate it.

Re: grooms cake
it's something fun, usually something that will represent the groom (i'm doing one shaped like a fish, since he loves fishing) and make him feel special!

Re: grooms cake
FH is ordering a twilight zone one. Usually it has to do with the grooms interest and doesn't follow the wedding theme which is usually picked by the bride.

Re: grooms cake
where are you guys getting these cakes? A regular bakery? My FH is a HUGE Broncos Fan, so if I do decide to do one - that would be the theme. It would be really cool if I could get a Broncos Ice Cream Cake (his fav). I wonder how I'd even go about that. Hmmmm.....

Re: grooms cake
I'm not doing it.
I used to think it was more of a southern tradition..but Ithink with shows like Ace of Cakes, etc. more people even up here are doing it.

i like the idea of a groom's cake. I am not sure who i am going to get mine from but the Chocolate Duck in Farmingdale i've heard makes some nice ones... I am going to get it for the RD... probably Mr. Met since FH is a Mets fan! (and so am i! haha.)
