Re: Groom's cake.....
I always thought the Groom's cake was just for the Bride & Groom to eat since it's only optional & the real cake is what serves all the guests. I'm not sure though.

So.......... do we just cut it....... eat a little & then take it home?

Re: Groom's cake.....
we're having ours at the rehearsal dinner.
im not 100% sure how they do or don't serve it if it's at the wedding...but they can probably just box it up for you to take home.
since u have the regular cake...i dont think the guests would even know if they weren't offered the groom's cake.

Re: Groom's cake.....
We had ours at the engagement party, but maybe you should ask your RH what they would recommend. Maybe they can piece out some of it for your close family and then you can have the rest.

I thought it would be served that night but they actually gave us the whole cake so we had it for the rest of the week and also gave to family members.

Re: Groom's cake.....
we had ours at our reception and it was a decent size cake (pics in my album) our RH cut it up and asked individual guests if they wanted a slice since we had limited slices, not everyone took but the ones who wanted it had it.

Re: Groom's cake.....
We had one it was an XBOX 360 (DH is a HUGE gamer). We put it out on a table beside the wedding cake, we told the RH to cut it but they didn't... :( So we ended up bringing it home. Which was cool cause we had gustes staying at house and in town a few days after the wedding so they got some anyway.

Re: Groom's cake.....
i heard two different things about having it at the reception, 1. that its just for show and you and dh take the whole cake. 2. that it is shared by dh and his groomsmen to take home...hmmm..not sure but i'd keep the cake bc i am a piggie

Re: Groom's cake.....
i had 160 people at my wedding...the groom's cake fed 40-50 people. They just put it on some peoples plates along with the wedding cake. No one even noticed that some people got it and some didnt!

Re: Groom's cake.....
There will be so much food I don't think you have anything to worry about. The hall cut the cake and offered it to the guests. We didn't even think about if it was going to feed anyone and I haven't heard anyone say they wanted some and didn't get it. Seriously, there's so much, they simply cannot eat everything!
ETA: The whole top layer was sent home with us.

That's what we did. We actually had cupcakes for our wedding cake so for the cake cutting we used the groom's cake. We didn't serve it to our guests but we got to take it home.
