Grooms cake

For anyone who is getting a grooms cake, are you having it at the rehearsal dinner, or the reception?? i cant decide what would be best! im thinking of getting him a cake of a craps table

I am going to have it at the reception. I really want everyone to see it.

I also like the idea of having the contrasting flavors at the reception. Everyone has different tastes!

That is what i was thinking too, but then i didnt know if it would be too much cake, and then we would have to figure out how to get it home.... i guess i still have time to think it over!

I got a smaller cake (serves 75) for that reason while still having the affect. I am sure FH will love the leftover cake! He is a twig but eats like a garbage disposal!

I'm having mine at the rehersal dinner. I don't want the cake to go to waste, especially for the money since these cakes are a few hundred dollars. I figure if I have it at the reception, alot will be left over since they serve the wedding cake first. Also, I don't feel like lugging leftover cake with us to our hotel.

i am surprising him w/ it at the reception.. i will have it set up on display next to the regular cake. I'd really like all my guests to see it and for my photographer to capture it!

I'm doing mine at the RD...I was torn, but I think having a novelty cake next to my wedding cake will take away from the elegance of it.

I'm doing it at the reception. The RD will be the same night as one of FH's GM's, so we will prob have a cake for him that night.

I think we'll do a small one at the RD... it'll be more personal and only our closest friends and family will get to see it. We can take our own pics of it! (Plus, we're staying at the hotel the night of the RD so we'll have something to snack on at midnight when I can't sleep before the wedding!!)

I am doing it at the RD. FH has no clue and I really want him to be surprised- I figured if I do it at the wedding he may not really have time to take it in. He always ruins the surprises I plan for him so I am trying to pull this off without him figuring it out. I already told him he was not getting a grooms cake b/c it was an unnecessary expense.
