So I could technically do a search for threads that contain the answer to this question - but I figured I would put it out there since this the only chat forum I participate in...
WHAT IS A GROOM'S CAKE?!?!?! When is eaten (or presented shall I say)? And where do us long islanders get said cakes? HMMM...

Re: Groom's Cake
The Groom's Cake is actually a southern traditional, but basically the way I look at it is this...
The wedding cake is always so girly in it's decoarting that I feel like it's more focused towards the bride whereas the Groom's Cake is a specialty shaped cake usually portraying some interest of the groom (fishing, video games, baseball, etc.). Some brides may choose to present the Groom's Cake at the actual wedding alongside the wedding cake but a lot of girls actually present it at the RD.
I'm definitely doing a GC but I'm still up in the air about whether or not I will do it at the RD or the wedding (though at the wedding his GC will tie in nicelt with the cake topper we got for the wedding cake - check out my Cakes album).
EDIT: Also keep in mind that if you do the GC at the wedding don't get a HUGE cake because you already have your wedding cake to serve as well. Plus check with your RH to see if they will even cut the GC for you to serve because they may charge you and extra cutting fee.

Re: Groom's Cake
lol whenever anyone mentions a groom's cake, I think of Steel Magnolias. They had an armadillo cake. It was red velvet inside and had grey icing. lol

I wanna do one at the wedding, but I feel like it might be awkward... What do you say? At the RD its probably much easier controlled... But with lilke 300 people, do you just be like here, I got this made for you, enjoy looking at it lol

Re: Groom's Cake
I am sure wherever you get your wedding cake you can ask if they make grooms cakes as well?? My FH is a PIE man so I am having a variety of pies made from a local pastry shop and will make a 'pie station' during dessert, its all a suprise to FH!
