Groom's Cake??

Anyone doing or did a Groom's Cake? How do/did you go about doing this and when is it given to the groom? Is this necessary?? I really don't get it.

Re: Groom's Cake??

Traditionally the purpose of a grooms cake was that it would be a part of the wedding. Single ladies would take a slice of the groom's cake home and sleep with it under their pillow. It was hoped to in turn bring a future groom into their own lives!

Is it necessary? Not at all!

Is it super cute? Yes! Hubby loved his! It was presented as a surprise after we did our regular cake cutting.

(Pics on my facebook) I did a 'Cant wait to build our lives together' with all tools, paint can etc. He fixed up his coop beautifully and has helped my parents fix up odds and ends. It was perfect!

That's cute. Did the hall slice it up and put it in the boxes for you? How many people should it typically be able to serve? What did you do with it afterwards?

Re: Groom's Cake??

I'm giving my FH his cake at our rehearsal dinner. Since we met online and he always tells me, 'Thanks for clicking', I'm having the baker make a giant computer mouse with a girl standing in front (wearing the same type of clothes as when i first met him) saying, 'Thanks for Clicking'

I'm getting it at The Cake Gallery in North Bellmore. Look him up on facebook...his cakes are amazing!!

We had the venue serve it in addition to our wedding cake. It was super cute and we got tons of praises! People were loving it!

I'm giving it to him at the Rehearsal dinner as well. We'll have enough cake at the Wedding!

Re: Groom's Cake??

i did the 'groom's cake' for the cake at the rehearsal dinner.. DH is a Huuuuuge eagles fan so i had the cake made to look like the eagles football field

i didn't want to buy more cake for the wedding since we had a 4 tier wedding cake and we were going to have to buy a cake for the rehearsal dinner- so killed two birds with one stone

I ordered it from the same bakery that is doing our wedding cake and just asked them to keep it a secret. They are going to deliver it to the hall and have it set up for when we get there. Definitely not necessary, but I think FH will appreciate it
