I was thinking of doing a grooms cake for FH. I wanted to do something with superman.
1. Any cool ideas for the cake? 2. Have any of you done or received a quote for a grooms cake? How much was it? What did you get for that price? And which bakery did you get the quote from?
Thanks so much!!!!

Re: Groom's Cake
2 friends of mine own a specialty cake making company and they are AMAZING! They don't have a website but I have plenty of pics from their instagrams and facebooks. They made my FH a DJ cake for his birthday last Feb. and it came out perfect! The details on it were PERFECT and matched his equipment and usual outfits perfectly.
I tried to attach pics but it didnt work
I can email them to you or if someone can tell me how to upload them I will

Groom's Cake
I'm doing a Batman cake for FH - try contacting Rolling Pin in Bay Shore. They gave me a very reasonable quote (we are using a family friend instead though), and seemed pleasant. I'm doing the cake at the RD because how we want our wedding cake done will be spectacle enough lol

I'm thinking of doing the cake at the RD as well. I looooove the Rolling Pin cakes. AMAZING! I'm hoping I can get a good quote. Can you FM the details of how much they quoted you? Also, your family friend, does he/she do outside work at a good price? Thank you!

It's someone my mom knows, I think she's doing it as a favor - not positive with details lol. It's a parent at her school that she's known forever, but I don't think she does outside stuff. It was $84 - $175 for a cake that fed 25 people, depending on the design at Rolling Pin.

Groom's Cake
I got prices from 'The Sweat Peace' in Lynbrook, 'The Cake Gallery' in Bellmore, and 'Dortoni Bakery' in Levittown. Each one was in the $300 to $500 range for 50 people, depending on the level of detail needed for the cakes which were either a wine bottle in a crate, or a rifle in a rifle case.

I'm doing something a little more simple, but it's a video game cake and it's only $70 for me over at La Bonne Boulangerie. It depends on the level of detail. My mom got me an engagement cake that was 3 layers with lots of details and it was $495. It's a big range and you would have to show pics to get a quote

I'm using Lady J Cakes. She has a fb page and you can see her work on there. She was the lowest quote I got for feeding 30 people. I have a small cake thats golf themed and has some of FH other hobbies on it like the NY for the yankees and a camera.

I'm planning on doing a batman theme cake too- love that so many of our FHs share a love for superheroes lol. I am going to try to do it myself- may need a few trials before hand. I found an awesome recipe for dark chocolate guinness cake with peanut butter frosting that needs to happen, FH will be beyond happy. Going to try doing it on my own to save some money. I would also do it at RD bc I want it to have a chance to shine.
LOVE the superman cake design!!!

Groom's Cake
I purchased my grooms cake from Buttercooky Bakery in New Hyde Park. I showed them a pic of what I wanted and they did an even better job! I think I paid $250 for it.
Here's the pic on their site: http://buttercookybakery.com/Cake_Albums/Pages/Specialty_Cakes.html#133

Groom's Cake
He's a Gotham city cop. He heard a rumor there were auditions, so we went down. his name is actually on imdb and stuff lol. If you watch any if the trailers of the scene with all the cops running, he's in the right corner, first or second guy

Re: Groom's Cake
I had a sculpted Hamburger cake for DH done by Sweet Alchemy by Amelia. It was AMAZING. She charged $300 for a cake that feeds 50, but that was the friends and family discount. Since you're not really looking for a sculpted cake, the price should not bee too high though
