Groom's Cake

Groom's Cake

Where did you get your groom's cake? I'd like to do one for the rehearsal dinner, but have no idea where to start. Also, about how much do they cost? I want to see if I can even fit it into the budget before I start making calls. Thanks ladies!

My sister got her grooms cake at The Chocolate Duck in Farmingdale... I have also heard really wonderful things about Dortoni's in Levittown! I am pretty sure the pricing really depends on what you're looking for and how big you want the cake to be.

I am using Marcie's cakes. Lady Js cakes are also amazing, the company cakethat!, And Dartoni's. Again it really depends on what you want and how big/ detailed it will be. I would contact a few bakery's with an inspiration picture and tell them your budget. They should be able to work with you.

What kind of design are you looking for?

I got a construction hard hat. Getting his logo and other sticks put on edible paper. The cake feeds about 20 people (I think they use a mold). I am just going to get an additional layer cake. I am paying under $150.
I was quoted about $350 from another place for the same concept that feeds 30-35 people.

I am using The Chocolate Duck... I LOVE Chrissy and Tricia who do the cakes.. I do cakes myself but don't have time to do my own grooms cake so the logical decision for me was to call Chrissy! I've taken many classes from them and they are very professional and do wonderful work..

Dortoni's makes AMAZING cakes! My family gets all of their cakes from them. We've had Louis Vuitton cakes, mini purse cupcakes, and my cousin just had 4 3D Barbie cakes for her Sweet 16. Definitely check them out!

I've also seen some amazing cakes from The Cake Gallery in Bellmore, but I've never personally been there.

Dortoni's is amazing! I don't know how their custom cakes are I just know everything they bake is DELISH! I plan on using Nadia's Dolci (nadiasdolci.com) She made our engagement cake & it was amazing & so delish. (pics in my engagement party album) I would also suggest LadyJ cakes. Shes on facebook. I have used her before & she is a pleasure to work with & does amazing cakes & cookies!

I got my groom's cake from her. Her cakes are delicious and they taste sooooo good. She has made my sister's baby shower cake and my nephew's christening cake. I have a picture of my groom's cake in the wedding day pics album.

For those of you who used Marcie's Cakes, what flavor did you get and did the fondant taste bad?

I've had a few cakes made by her. I've had the red velvet, lemon with Bavarian crème, carrot cake (groom's cake but my husband has not cut his cake yet..smh), and vanilla with vanilla buttercream. All the cake were very good. As far as the taste of the fondant I actually have never tasted it.

HTH!

I ended up using Baked to Perfection in Port Washington - they made the most amazing fire truck cake. The look on his face when they brought it out was priceless!

Do you have pictures of this??? I am looking to have an antique fire truck made for my fiancé… he used to have one that he put a lot of work and money to and he sold it a few months ago so he has been sad about it since. Also can you FM me a price? Thank you so much!

Sent FM!
PS - I look like a hot mess in that picture, don't judge me. I danced a lot, and was probably not wearing shoes anymore :)
