grooms cake

I'm on a 'find stuff to surprise my groom' kick.....
so besides that vest for his tux I have to find that is in another post.... I'm thinking about getting a grooms cake.
my cousin offered to do it for free so no extra cost and she is really good at it! it would just be like a sheet cake with an awesome skull drawing. he's dieing to have skulls incorporated do bad, I keep telling him no bc I want to surprise him with stuff. I wear skull stiff all the time too so I don't actually mind at all, I just don't want them EVERYWHERE!
anyway so I was wondering if anyone else a grooms cake? if u did one what did u do for his cake?? if not what do you think if the whole idea?

that would make a 4th dessert almost.... we get 3 tier wedding cake, C hoclate fountain( or something if equal value, which will prob be something else like ice cream bar or mouse and jellos or shooters) and then cookies and pasteries.....it's that too much?

grooms cake - Long Island Weddings

I'm just going to jump in and say if you are planning on doing the grooms cake at the RH and your cousin is planning to do it, they may not allow it. Most RH's require an insurance certificate for vendors, especially food items that are being eaten on the premises. If they were cupcake favors that are being taken home that's a different story. I am doing a grooms cupcake display but I am getting them from a bakery.

Re: grooms cake

I just put a deposit for a grooms cake today. I'm doing a wrestling ring since FH loves wrestling. when we first started dating my dad used to get a suite thru his job for MSG and we'd go see wrestling events.

I'm having it at the rehearsal dinner though. it'll get more attention. fh knows he's getting a cake but has no idea what it's gonna look like

grooms cake

All I can think if is the armadillo cake from Terms of Endearment! I think at the Rehersal Dinner is a great idea so both cakes have their moment!

grooms cake - Long Island Weddings

Question on the groom cake- If was to do this at RD- is this presented a certain way? Or does it just come out with dessert? How did this tradition come about? Ive never been to a RD with a groom cake...

I think it's just out on display at the place. then they serve it for dessert. that's how my cousin did it for his. so people can take pictures of it & stuff.

I would suggest having it at the RD instead, since there will be so much going on at the wedding. I had it at the RD and even though it was a smaller group, it was definitely much more appreciated. Pictures of the cake ended up on facebook, so everyone else still got to see it.
