Grooms Cake

Is anyone doing a groom's cake? Where are you getting it from and how much do they typically cost? Are you having it at the rehearsal dinner or next to the wedding cake at the reception?

Re: Grooms Cake

They can range from 200-750 depending on how elaborate and large you want it. A friend of a friend is doing mine and its costing me about 250. I plan to surprise him with it during our rehearsal dinner. To give you an idea, she also did my cake for my graduation a couple yrs back, and it looked exactly like the pic I gave her below:

It cost 150 and served about 50 people, and was 2 cakes with chocolate and cookies in cream as their flavors. :)

I want to do one and I have no idea what to make it of! FH doesn't really have any serious hobbies so I'm lost.

I had the same problem initially, since my FH is just like yours. I ended up doing what I thought would amuse him, and that is having a cake made mimicking an exam room. It has an edible figure made in his likeness examining a patient on an exam table. He talks about work all the time, more so than any hobbies, so I thought it fitting. Maybe you can do the same?

Hahaha yeah, maybe the one of your face would do then lol Or you can just go with a traditional cake with maybe a phrase or saying thats meaningful? You'd save a lot of money too, since it won't require any fondant.

Grooms Cake - Long Island Weddings

I ordered my DH's cake from Rolling Pin Bakery & I believe it cost me around $150. I got the Batman symbol (pics in my review) & it was delicious!

That came out great! My FH is a big Rangers fan so I was thinking of doing something like that with a Rangers symbol. I'll have to check our rolling pin!

That's our venue's house bakery so I will check them out! FH is big into cars and he also plays XBOX a lot (he a big kid). I was thinking of doing an XBOX theme (if they can do it).

Thanks!

So is mine. What garage is yours at? If he didn't love his mustang so much I would do a garbage truck. I think it's cute.

Grooms Cake - Long Island Weddings

My cousin is making ours but I'm having it at the wedding. Fh is big it to.skulls like affliction clothing and tattoos so she is doing something with skulls so he can have skulls at the wedding. It won't be half as nice as these other girls since she uses icing to draw on a sheet cake. She can't shape the cake or cut skulls out of anything but it's ok he will still love it bc she is a good artist!
As far as those of u who don't have ideas bc fh didn't have hobbies, sites he have a favorite sports team maybe? Car? Pet? Just some suggestions.

Re: Grooms Cake

i got mine through the cake gallery in bellmore... I attached a pic of what the cake will look like to give you an idea of what they are doing, and it will be serving about 35-40people

they are making the cake exactly the same, minus the water bottle because it's just fondant anyway and you can't even eat that as a slice of cake lol- the owner has been so so helpful on the phone and is super nice. FM me if you want to know about how much we paid for it :)

my cousin lives in massapequa and offered to pick it up for me on the way to the rehearsal and will drop it off at the rehearsal dinner restaurant which is up the block from the church. That way, it'll save me about $50 for delivery.
