Grooms Cake Question

My FMIL said she was planning on doing the grooms cake....Is this normal? I thought that is something the bride does? I told her i would rather she did not do it. I just thought that since she is not paying for any part of the reception,s he really had no reason in buying a grooms cake, especially that it was something i thought was for the bride to do.
HELP!!! Need advice!

Id let her buy it, but Id tell her what you want, especially if you are using it the day of your wedding.

Who knows she might have the same idea as you.

Re: Grooms Cake Question

THIS IS FROM WWW.OURMARRIAGE.COM:

The groom's cake is a smaller cake that is served at the wedding reception. Young women (unmarried) will want to take a piece of the groom's cake home to place under their pillows and the old wive's tale says 'they will marry whomever they dream of that night.'

We recommend that the groom's mother bake the groom's cake herself. It can be anything from fruitcake to chocolate...whatever the groom loves. You may want to encourage the bride to wrap small slices of the groom's cake in tin foil, wrapped around with net and tied with a nice bow as a favor to be passed out at the reception. Include a little note with each piece of cake explaining the 'old wive's tale.'

Re: Grooms Cake Question

FH is a huge football fan...so i was thinking that instead of a groom's cake at the reception that at the RD to have a football shaped cake...they sell the pans at michael's...

if FMIL wants to do it, let her. one less thing to stress over.
