Groom's Family Does RD?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but the groom's family is supposed to host the rehearsal dinner right? According to my FI, my future in-laws are off the boat Greeks and didn't know they were supposed to host it. We're getting married 6/5/05...isn't it cutting it close to books something and get invites out?
Thanks for your help on this one...I need some ammo to prove my point that men are incompetent! lol

Traditionally the grooms family hosts this. It's def. getting close so you should make your decision soon...its not too late though..I'm getting married on May 5th and we only booked a place a few weeks ago and the invites are not out yet. Good luck!

My FMIL is hosting and paying for the RD, and that is the way it is traditionally done, I believe. FH and I were planning to host it until she told us she wanted to have something of her own to host wedding related. Works for us

Traditionally, groom's parents do the RD. Things have changed a lot, though in terms of what is more customary. Lots of people pay for their own weddings, or both families chip in equally etc. My fh and I are paying for our wedding and my dad is actually throwing RD. Think it probably depends on your whole situation. But, yes, I agree--get moving no matter who is hosting!
