Grooms that don't dance..

Ok I know there's gotta be more girls out there that have FH's that don't dance!

I am a HUGE dancer and could dance ALL nite..FH on the other hand doesn't dance at all He swears he's going to dance at the wedding, and even agreed to taking dance lessons for the first dance with no prob at all... but I feel like I want him to be up there really enjoying himself while dancin, not thinking 'oh man, I want to get off this floor, now!'

Anyone else dealing with this? What are you doing about it?!? Are you worried you won't get to dance much with FH at your wedding because of it or do you not care, as long as you have your girls to dance with?!?

my FH hates to dance and i could dance all night also. He said he'll dance at our wedding, as long as he dances the most important dances and a few other songs I'll be ok...I

've heard of non dancing grooms socializing with all the guests instead of dancing while the bride dances with the other guests on the dance floor....

I guess it doesn't really matter as long as you both have a good time, don't worry he just might decide to put on his dancing shoes for the wedding

Yes exactly what I am dealing with to a T. He agreed to have a choreographed first dance and all. I am a classically trained ballet dancer and have taken my fair share of other classes (jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, etc) and I LOVE to dance. But I don't want to spend our whole wedding night separated from him. He says he'll dance so we'll see.

i think its good that he wants to take lessons that shows that he wants to do it you know? Just give him a couple drinks he will be fine

FH does NOT dance either. I've been with him for 3 years and only saw him dance ONCE (and it wasn't pretty haha). Although he really hates to dance, he's completely open (and even seems excited about) dancing lessons and at least having our first dance at the wedding. But I do wish he'd dance more on a regular basis

FH doesnt dance as well. He did say he would take dance lessons but, I think he has changed his mind. I guess I'll be on the dance floor with my family and friends while he is smoking his cigs . Yeah lets see if he quits those as well

My FH doesn't dance either. In the 7 years we've been together there was one reported incident of him dancing and that was years ago in college and I wasn't even there to witness. His sister just got married on Sat and he danced the important dances with me. I'm thinking that's what will happen at our wedding. I'm okay with it. i don't want to drag him onto the floor and make him uncomfortable. I know he's already having a problem with being the center of attention.

Can we include brides in this topic also. I am super shy. I know I can dance but I get pit in my stomach everytime I think all eyes will be on us on our first dance. I am neverous I keep telling myself that I better get over my fear by next year!!

all my FH needs is a lil alcohol and he'll be good to go...

I have always been a dancer when out with the girls but like my FH we are rock n rollers at heart. He said he'll dance at the wedding and I am sure he will a little but honestly I dont want to go overboard cause that just wouldnt be him! Plus...the dance lesson thing is just to 'fake' for me. I dont want our first dance to be thought out and choreograophed...I just want to be in his arms...his wife!

yea...we're kinda like a non-dancing couple. I mean if you want me to break out into the robot and running man im all in. He can do the worm too. But like dancing to the music of today...i dont know my *** from my elbows!

the slow songs i think we got under control.

We'll probably dance and laugh it up....we have no shame

Funny you should ask, because it just came up this weekend. My FH can and will dance to anything, but was nervous about the 'real dancing' like first dance. I've been dancing forever, and thought choreography would look to wooden or else he'd be counting trying to do each step as taught.

So, I gave him a trick I learned years ago in a latin dance class that ensures you will be able to dance together, to any beat, to any music, comfortably, and doesn't rely on steps, etc. -- just the man knowing he has the lead, and making it nearly impossible for you not to follow.

Within minutes after I showed him, we were flowing all over the apartment, he got confident, added spins, dips, wherever he wanted, and it all worked. It was so cool we couldn't stop dancing for the longest time (my legs hurt the next day!!!)

Now I'm psyched and so is he because he feels like he didn't learn A dance, but learned TO dance!!!

Same here! I like to dance (not so much love but I know I will be up there all night on my day)
FH hates it and even more, is SOO bad at it!

Good thing is, he loves to have fun and my family will take up the entire dance floor so I know I will have company and he will make lots of appearances!!!

Here's a suggestion... I told fh we should do this too because he's not too comfortable either. Every day turn on the radio or a cd and dance to one song (fast or slow). That way he'll be more used to dancing together by the wedding.

I have the complete opposite problem...FH is a maniac on the dance floor!!!
