I've seen this done, lots with converse and sometimes with sneakers the colors of the wedding party. I'm a bit conflicted, I think colored vans would be really cute and I'd really like to infuse personality into my wedidng. On the other hand the dress I'm most interested in is elegant and a bit of a vintage vibe..I don't know if it really goes together. I also don't know if I like sneakers for the ceremony...it seems like it might be harsh.

Re: Grooms Wearing Sneakers
My guys wore converse and it did not detract from the formality of the ceremony/reception in the slightest. All my guests absolutely LOVED it!

Re: Grooms Wearing Sneakers
i was going to this with all the guys but we couldnt find sneakers we liked in the colors to match .... if we did do it i would have had them wear shoes for the church and then changed into sneakers for the reception ... i did let them all wear hats for the reception and i dont think it took away from anything and in all honestly i didnt really care it was our wedding and we were going to do what we wanted to do!

I personally don't like the idea. It can be cute, just not for me

Re: Grooms Wearing Sneakers
I love the guys wearing sneakers in the wedding! FBIL/FSIL had the boys in converse sneakers for both the ceremony and reception and I don't think it took away from anything. In all honesty, during the ceremony, are you really going to be focusing on footwear? I say if it makes you both happy to do it then do it.
I think we may be doing shelltop Adidas sneakers for our boys but I told FH it's entirely up to him and ultimately his decision if he wants to wear sneakers or regular shoes.

I'm all for sneakers. If it reflects your personality, you should do it. I'm wearing converse btw. FH may wear Nikes. we shall see.

Re: Grooms Wearing Sneakers
Well I have to agree b/c mine is... Lol He plans to buy black converses with white laces custom ordered for himself and his groomsmen as part of their gifts. You can order them online with any color scheme and you can put names stitched on them and any color lining, etc... They're also wearing suspenders instead of vests; he's a casual kind of guy and thats cool with me... I liked the ideas personally, and its good to give them what they want ,sometimes...

They do... but they're real ugly.
ETA: Well, that's just my opinion. DH loved them and wanted to wear them, but they were really expensive, too. And I begged him to get regular Converse sneakers. He wound up getting leather ones for himself and the regular canvas ones for the guys and they were really nice.
Here's a pic, I'll let you ladies decide for yourself. They also have regular Converse but they are more expensive than if you went to Modell's or something similar.
