Groom's wedding ring

Groom's wedding ring

My FH is a 'man's man' (according to his own description). He is dead-set on a titanium band. Someone once told him, that if he gets into an accident and they try to take it off, they won't be able to! Sounds crazy.....

SO - are any other FHs into this type of metal? Where would you even buy them?

Other options in his mind are tungsten or stainless steel.

Hi,
Fortunoff for sure has titanium rings I was looking at them in there. They are very unusual they are super light and feel so different from other rings. My brother-in-law has one b/c it can take a beating better than the other metals- so he says.

we were talking to a jeweler tonight about this EXACT thing, because my friends FH works with hazardous chemicals so he would have to get titanium. they were telling us that they cant cut it, so if it needed to be taken off, it would have to be lazer cut to be removed
in the same respect though, they're obviously the most durable. once i go through all the stuff from tonight i'll try and get the card for that jeweler, i know they're in islip on main street

Re: Groom's wedding ring

Most jewelry stores have some 'alternative metal' rings as they call them....FH tried on some rings just to see what he liked at Whitehall Jewelers in the mall and that's what they called anything that wasn't white gold...

my friends husband has one. One down side is that I don't think they can ever resize them (not that I'm predicting your FH will gain or lose a tremendous amount of weight and need resizing). Once you buy it it there's no going back to have it adjusted.

Edit post: i messed up. He advised us not to get platinum for FH because it scratches. Also for Fh's line of work, he was advised to get white gold because it can be cut off of his finger.

DH has a titanium band and it CAN be removed! It wouldnt be laser but it would be plasma cut if they couldnt get it off. Laser cutting is a machine guided by a laser and plasma cutting is a type of welder that is used to cut everything-any metal, it burns right thru it, but it uses plasma technology.

Otherwise, it can be cut off but in all seriousness if he is using machinery I wouldnt recommend he wears it-regardless of whether its gold or titanium. If you couldnt cut titanium how was it made??? And in other life how often is DH going to hurt that finger and need it to be cut off? Its VERY VERY RARE!!!! BUT like I said I would not recommend it if he works with his hands and machinery b/c he can get caught.

Dont believe the hype ladies! It can be cut, tungsten also can be cut off. Jewelers will tell you all kinds of stories, PS titanium is alot cheaper then gold

Platinum is very soft, it nicks very easily and will bend over time
Gold will scratch but its a little harder then platinum.

titanium and tungsten are comparable-they are both very hard metals that with stand wear but can be cut if necessary.

ETA: Correct, titanium can not be sized, they dont have teh machinery to size it down

Re: Groom's wedding ring

FH and I had this discussion last week. He wanted titanium or tungeston carbide. We looked at them online and they sounded like a good deal. Many girls on here said good things as well. They hold up very well according to most. I think Titanium could be engraved and sized by an experienced jeweler the Tungeston CANNOT.

We spoke to my Dad to get his input, since he works on LARGE equipment and doesn't wear his wedding band to work(builds nuclear powerplants). He told us that the companies he works for, refuse to let anyone wear titanium or tungeston on the jobsite. It will not break and needs a specific tool to remove or cut. He has safety meetings all the time about guys getting fingers cut off if their ring hand would get caught in machinery. My Dad wears white gold and his band shows the wear and tear of a 30+ year working man's marriage. It seemed to hold up well enough!!!

FH and I got his ring last sunday, 6mm white gold nice and thick! We are pleased w/ it!!

This is true. My DH has a titanium band as well and he loves it - he does not like to wear jewelry and the band is so light he doesn't notice it. Only down side is that it canont be sized.

My FH wants a titanium ring as well. The sucky part for him though is he is a mechanic so he won't be able to wear the ring to work incase he gets into a welding accident or something.

Re: Groom's wedding ring

My FH got tungsten, his first choice was titanium because our jewler said it was 'indestructable' for that reason he had to have it because it suited him-lol! But there is a lifetime warranty on them and not badly priced! No argument here its a great everyday ring, as a surprise I'm buying FH an expensive ring to have as well.
