Groomsmen and Usher's Attire

Groomsmen and Usher's Attire

Should the usher wear the same attire as the groomsmen - a tux or can he wear just a black suit?

And should he also be standing with the groomsmen in the front? I need to know 'cus I have 3 bridesmaid and 2 groommen so I need the usher to balance the #s out.

If he is an usher then he can wear either a suit or a tux, it's up to you. If he's standing up at the altar then he is a GM and should wear a matching tux with the other GM. HTH!!

wish i could help but all the weddings i have been to the groomsmen and ushers were interchangeable. . .

like they wore the same tuxes -- they directed people to their seats and THEN when the ceremony started they stood up ( or sat in the first row of the church) with the groom. . .

i guess those weddings didnt have official 'ushers'

I thought ushers were the same thing as groomsmen???? if not, i would suggest that he NOT wear the same suit UNLESS you're considering him a part of your bridal party. if he is not considered a part of your BP, have him wear a nice suit.... if he is considered a BP member, he should be in the tux the rest of the men are wearing.

I'm having 3 ushers in addition to our 8 GM. They will be giving out programs, directing people to their seats, etc. I am going to have them wear a tux (probably the same as the GM) but they will be wearing a different tie. My ushers are actually my three best guy friends who I have known forever, and they actually will be on my side, not FH's.

ETA: And I am definitely considering them part of my BP.

Do ushers not normally stand with the groom at the altar? I'm confused.

I was originally planning on putting the ushers in the same tuxes as the GM, but I changed my mind, and they will now be wearing different tuxes. They will not be up front w/ FH at the ceremony. However, they will be introduced at the reception.
