Is $500 too much to spend on groomsmen gifts?

It depends upon your budget. IMHO, it is not a lot for 6 people. But then again I don't know what your finances are like. I think it really depends upon how comfortable you are with spending the money. Since you asked, I think you seem concerned about spending $500 so I am going to say that you should spend what you feel ok spending and not more than that even if it is a great gift.
