Re: Groomsmen vs. Ushers
Ok I found this....
Ushers are designated to greet and seat guests as they arrive for the ceremony and they can also pass out the programs. They are aware of any reserved seating and seat accordingly. Additionally, ushers can also be the ones to roll out the aisle runner. Some ushers wear the wedding day attire to match, while others do not. It would be up to you. They should receive an invite to the rehearsal, etc since they are a part of the wedding party. Groomsmen are there to stand up for the groom during the ceremony. Many times groomsmen are also asked to be ushers as well. Hope this helps clarify!

Re: Groomsmen vs. Ushers
and this...
A groomsman, on the other hand, stands up for the groom during the ceremony. He may also be asked to also serve as an usher at a small wedding. Both groomsmen and ushers are invited to all of the prewedding fun, including the bachelor party, rehearsal, and rehearsal dinner

Re: Groomsmen vs. Ushers
I think the terms are usually used interchangeably but I think the difference is that the groomsmen are just the witnesses for the groom and the ushers actually usher/seat people in the church, but at least in NY and nowadays the GMs either just be groomsmen or they do both. FH was a GM in a wedding and he had to do this, though usually we see the groomsmen just hanging out with the groom before the ceremony. If you're going to call them ushers then you should have them actually seating people before the ceremony, otherwise they are groomsmen.
