Grown Up Spinoff

Do people in your life (even work) treat you like an adult?

or are you still looked at as young and inexperienced...?

When I first started working here, I was treated as a 'young-un' cause I was the youngest and everyone knew it.

But not anymore - they treat me as an equal now!

Sometimes I feel like I'm still treated like a young girl, especially by my mother but she has changed more with me since I have Alia.

Yesterday was my birthday and at our staff meeting (i am a teacher) someone who will go unmentioned Stated loud and clear about how young i was and that he has cars older than me...and it didnt stop for at least 5 minutes,

I know he does see me as a professional because I do a good job at work but I am the youngest teacher at my school...so it is a bit weird at times.

Choice b. Definitely. Even by an editor who only a 2 or 3 years older than me.
And I've been here 7 years!

And by my in-laws ( not just me, DH too)

I am usually treated like an adult by most people, except my grandfather. He doesnt want me to get married because I am 'too young' even though both of my parents are extremely happy for me. He was upset that I had moved in with FI, he didnt really thinkg that I could buy a new car... the list goes on and on about ways he makes me feel like a little kid, almost like I need his approval before making a decision. Fortunately for me, I am not the only one he does this to, he still meddles in all of his kids lives.

I am the youngest at work, and I'm definitely treated that way. I get taken advantage of and people push off their 'crap' jobs onto me - like climbing into the dirty dusty archive room to pull old records... if YOU need them, YOU pull them!!! That's not MY job!!!

I am torn between the 2....I myself feel like an adult and I know many people here treat me like one. But I work in Manhattan in advertising - a deadly combination - you should see the tall, pretty, perfect clothes-wearing girls that I work with. I feel like a chunky midget kid next to them
