Grrr.....

I was ALL excited today since FH found his wedding band and I am all excited about mine...

well, FH's grandmother goes 'oh, you're putting sapphires in your wedding band? How exciting! #*& will be so thrilled. What a tribute to her...it's her birthstone'

#*& = FH's sister that I HATE/despise/etc....

now I don't want sapphires...ugh!

Note to self: do not share exciting news. people just ruin it!

thats a pretty big assumption that she made thinking that it was a tribute to her...im sorry that is annoying...but dont not get it if it is something you had your heart set on...you can maybe find a way to make it clear that it has NOTHING to do with FSIL

well, if you put some other stone in it, it's going to be someone else's birthstone...

besides, you didn't put the stones because it was so-&-so's birthstone, but because you liked them for for your own reasons.

i don't think it should sour you at all! Hopefully this will blow over quickly and you'll be happy with the sapphires again

it's so irritating...and all my co-workers were like 'why sapphire? i don't get it'...YOU DON'T HAVE TO 'GET' IT...I LIKE IT!

Re: Grrr.....

what is up with people lately??
why on earth would it be a tribute to her? that's just weird.
old people are weird.
don't let it bother you. you love it, that's all that matters.
besides, basically whatever stone you pick would be a birthstone, or close to what someone considers their birthstone.

fcuk 'em!

Isn't diamond someone's birthstone too? Would you not get diamonds on your ering or wedding band because of someone's birthday?

It ***** that she said that, because you'll think of her now when you wear your ring, but I wouldnt let it stop you unless you really feel strongly about it. It's obviously NOT about FH's sister, it's because you love the look of sapphires!

I would still get the sapphires... you and your FH know it's not a tribute to her. Which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Well, aren't sapphires actually the traditional engagement/wedding stone? I think it only changed to diamonds in the 19th century. I think I read about that in an Edith Wharton book or something.

Re: Grrr.....

i would make it a point to let them know it has nothing to do with her. you get the sapphires and don't think twice people are dopey now i want to beat her up
