Can anyone recommend a color laser printer you used for your invites? I had one laser printer that was cheaper and it wouldn't take heavy envelopes. So I bought a brand new one that is supposed to take heavy envelopes, but it jams every time. Luckily I have 14 days to return it. I don't want to pay someone to calligraphy them because I have a nice font for it, and I will use the printer for programs, menus, escort cards etc so I think it's worth the investment. TIA!

Re: Grrr printers help please
I have an inkjet HP printer at home and I printed 175 envelopes (thicker than normal paper but not cardboard thick) this weekend. I lost about 5 envelopes due to paper jams and tearing. I have a picture of the printed envelope in my album (the one that's of 'my stuff').
I have a laser printer at work and that was actually worse since any paper inserted into the paper gets so compressed that it comes out bent (curved).
It took me over 4 hours since I printed one a time.

I'm sitting on hold with the printer manufacturer trying to figure out a solution... do you have to worry about inkjet smudging or running?
As far as the curving from laser, I did this with my engagement invites (envelopes we not lined though). As soon as they came out of the printer I inserted the invite and it flattened right out since it was still warm.

I did not have to worry about the ink running at all. It was completely dry by the time it came out of the printer.

Re: Grrr printers help please
I bought the HP Color LaserJet 2605dn at Staples back in February when they were having crazy sales (I got it half price!)
Right out of the box, I did have a problem with the paper drawer sticking, called Tech Support, tried several suggestions, and wound up going back to Staples to exchange for another printer, same model. The Tech on the phone said this had happened to 2 other people (complaints logged in). I had the manager of Staples open the printer drawer for me to make sure it worked before dragging the huge box out of the store.
Now, it works beautifully. Another LIW member, lucamon, helped me to change the paper settings in MS Word when I want to print envelopes. It has to say 'heavy envelope' under the 'finishing' menu and then it works.
HTH!

CC (and anyone else who had success): Were your envelopes lined? I think it's the liner that's causing me the problem.
The woman I ordered the invites from said she talked to her computer calligraphy person and she said it has to be a printer that feeds the paper straight through, instead of bending it. All the stores I called said they only sell them online, so I have to then wait for shipping. I'm about ready to just hire a calligrapher!!
