So I am missing 70 RSVPs one week over my RSVP date. We have started to bug people. Well FH asked his friend who told us he didn't know if he could come yet because he is waiting for a closing date for the house he is buying upstate.
Correct me if I am wrong, but don't you have a say in the closing date. If they turned around and said August 8 can't you say, I can't do that day because I have a wedding to go to.
I am pissed.

Re: GRRRR
Someone told us that same exact thing when we asked for his RSVP for our wedding. 10 days before the wedding, this same person STILL hasn't responded. I was so frustrated with him that I sent him a nice email that morning and said if he didn't tell me yes by the end of the day, then I would have to count him as no due to the rules imposed on me by my reception hall.

Re: GRRRR
You have to remember that our weddings are not on the top of everyones priority list... so for this friend, he may have gone through a tough time with this house and the closing may take priority... ***** but its something that we tend to forget...
we were missing alot of rsvps as well... but have been calling people and the verbal yes/no has been doing just fine... however you can get it right? we shouldnt even have this added stress... but it looks like all brides go through this and we just have to roll with the punches

Re: GRRRR
Maybe you should just call these people and let them know that you have to give a number to your RH by the end of this week and if they can't give you a response then you have to put them down as a No. My mom did that with FH's family for my shower because they hadn't told her yes or no and it worked they all said no.

Re: GRRRR
To an extent, you have a say in the closing, but not really. I know if it had been taking my sellers weeks to set a date, likely I would jump at the first date they were willing to give me. (Actually, this is exactly what happened with us.) But closing usually doesn't happen on a weekend, does it? I don't understand how it could interfere with plans to attend your wedding ...

I do get that, but this guy has been pissing me off for so many reasons so I guess it just bugs me more. Plus honestly I can't really believe he is buying a house since he has a cash business. Who is going to give him a loan?
Thanks though.
By the way, your Avatar is SO cute. Did SpringSandra make yours too or did you do it yourself?

This is the worst thing ever. You spend all that money on postage and people dont even have the decency to send it back.

Re: GRRRR
So so sorry to hear you're still tracking down that many people! It took me until about 2 weeks after our RSVP date to have the majority back.
Then people started changing their responses...
I got my final RSVP in the mail YESTERDAY lol. I gave the final # to the RH last week on Thursday. It's ok though. The only big change is that FH's grandparents are now coming (which is awesome -- they live in VA and have a hard time traveling, but it will be so nice if they can come!). I'll give them the +2 48 hours before when I can change it.
You'll get them to come in soon. Maybe start sending out emails too, just asking people to please get you a response as soon as they can.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Re: GRRRR
or the friend should just be respectful and since his life is so up in the air just RSVP no...instead of holding you guys up....lets make this easy people.... you can either go or you can't....if you are hung up about a closing date then just send a gift.
Or he could have called you guys prior to the rsvp date and explain his situation

Apparently its because the closing is upstate and he has to go up there. But I said the same thing. Everyone I know had to take off a day of work for their closing. Its not likely it will happen on a Saturday.

Re: GRRRR
Such a pain!!
I don't think you get a choice in the closing date-at least I didn't when I closed on my apartment 2 years ago. I think if you CAN'T do the date the bank/lawyers/underwriters give you, you pay a financial penalty for every day you put off the closing.
I'll be in the same boat as you, my boss is due to have her baby 3 weeks before our wedding, and as much as she says she'll be there, who knows when the baby comes if she will want to be away from it (its her first). AND one of best friends pregnant & is due ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING! So she will be last minute as well.
It will all work out

I don't know, we gave our lawyer a list of dates we couldn't do and he arranged it for us. I am sure if you have something planned for a day you can work around it. Especially when you are the buyer.
I have a friend who is due two weeks after my wedding, so I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't come last minute, I have her as a yes but I am leaving her off the preliminary count I give the RH, but thats ok, thats different then a closing. I understand, nature can't be helped.

I feel like if that guy can't commit to coming, then he should just rsvp no~ugh!! Keep us posted for what happens.
So funny, I'm your guest list watcher, because our invited list is at about 293-so close to yours. FH thinks we're going to have a 100% show rate, and I hope to god we don't, from a financial perspective. SO I keep watching how many you've gotten for yes's and no's

I have to tell you I expected more to say yes then I got. I am very surprised. Although 29 of those nos are from FH's family. Clearly they have never been to one of my parents parties. Anyone who has is coming. Well most everyone who has been to one of my parents' parties, some people have really good reasons why they can't or live to far away.
