ok so i called my church to change my date from friday april 30th to saturday may 8th - cocktail hour is at either 6:30 or 7 - the ONLY times available for weddings are 2:30 & 5:30 - hello?????? i was like you only have 2 spots for weddings? i cant do 2:30 & have a 4 1/2 hour gap & i cant do 5:30 then my FH will definately miss all the CH and most of the 1st houroof our wedding. The woman said sell have the pastor call me - if theres nothing that can be done then why is he calling me. She said there confession from 4 to 5 - ok why does that stop weddings - you go in to a private booth speak to the priest and thats that... am i wrong???

Re: GRRRR my church
my church is the same time on a Friday and it works out so we have time to take pictures at the church and before the cocktail hour- so we dont miss any of it. and have travel time (without traffic- church and manor are 45 minutes from each other) can you do something like that? and make use of that time in between?

Re: GRRRR my church
Sorry, that stinks. I think most Friday weddings are around 2 or 3, giving people time in between the ceremony and reception.

I guess the best bet is the 2:30, I can relate with these time dilemmas, hopefully mine will be solved this weekend, but I doubt it with my luck ha!! Hang in there buddy!!!
Did you end up deciding on that reception hall, I feel like I may have missed that post?!!

Re: GRRRR my church
Are you having a mass or ceremony? If your having a mass, the 2:30 slot is not too bad. Figure it goes till 3:30 then receiving line, then pictures at the church, you won't leave there until 4:15ish...then you have to do all your pictures somewhere for a few hours....so the 6:30 CH is do-able.
I have a big gap too but people will just have to deal. My mother is having our side of the family over for cocktails and small finger foods. Everyone else will be at the hotel bar!

no its not a mass so wed be done at 3 - all done with everything like 3:45 thats BAD. My step mother is in the bridal party & my mother wouldnt do something like that....my RH gave me 30 minute hospitality - so if people get there at 6 (if cocktail hour is at 6:30 or 6:30 if cocktail hour starts at 7) they will give them drinks, coffee, pastries, etc. 2:30 is way to early for me - i would hate to have to choose another church since that is where we christened our daughter......
