I just got my car back from the shop for routinue maintainance it was over $500 Just for brakes and a tune-up and a bunch of stuff I don't understand or realize. I hate paying for car things especially when I have to dip into the wedding fund to do it!

I hate hurting anyone- even when they need it I posted my apology rather than FM. I feel better now...
BTW- The car repair is a true story. I am still upset I had to use that money for something I don't even notice.

ck - yes, I hate ar repair charges too! I took in my car 2 weeks ago and was told that it would be $1400 to make it 'OK' - so I said, how much to make it run? And he said $500 - so that's what I did...my car's running, but not 'OK'. Ugh - I hate it too - feel your pain!
And don't worry about the 'fakie'...even when I called out one last night there were others questioning...I'm staying out of it now unless it's that obvious (like crazy last night!).

I just had a ridiculous car repair bill too. Needed new rear brakes and the dealer wanted $600. Well, the car is off lease in June and is going back. It is a luxury car and I leased it right after Sept 11. I guess it was my 'you only live once' car. Well, I hate making that payment every month when I can use that money for so many other things right now. I got my brakes done someplace else for $205!!!! It still urkes me to have to spend that kind of money when the car is going back in a few months and it only has $30,000 miles on it. I just paid for someone else's brakes.

Depending on the make of the car and also sometimes the model, prices for repairs can be rediculous Especially if you don't really know or understand what the mechanic is explaining to you. I happen to work on my own truck and I show it and race it, so nothing gets by me.
