GRRRRRRRRRR (venting, ignore if you like)

Dear Ikea,

You should not sell furniture kits when pieces are missing from them, especially if you are going be @ssholes about replacing those pieces. I don't know where you jerk-offs learned customer service, but CUSTOMERS should not have to drive all the freaking way back to Philadelphia to get the pieces that were missing from the kit that YOU sold them. And keeping those customers on hold on a long distance call for 30 minutes isn't cool either.

There are MANY companies that know a few things about customer service. MANY companies that wouldn't have a problem with opening a new unit to service a customer who has just spent a good deal of money at your store, with plans of spending more.

I am about to drop all of my plans for today, drive to Philadelphia, and perform an Oscar Winning Scene in your store. And it ain't from Shakespeare in Love, I can tell you that.

No Love,
Rachel

Fantastic Letter.
That's the reason I let Tom put everything from Ikea together - so he can get mad at the missing pieces

<--- I usually think this emoticon is inappropriately and overly used, but your letter is hilarious!

I don't like Ikea very much, just about everything I've ever purchased from them has fallen apart. Give em HELL, Rachel, in accordance with the prophecy.

Take note of the 'your'

had similar issues...they left out all the little screws and wood pegs and then my tv cabinet was in two boxes and there was NO sign to take two. so we took one and were quite angry. I went back and showed the manager how there was no sign by the box. He could care less.

fh just spent four hours at their store this weekend with 3 kids trailing behind him..i can't believe he actually made it out of there without hurting someone..they gave him a formica table instead of a natural wood one, made him wait on the exchange line for 2 hours and then told him they didn't have any of the wood ones left..i like their stuff but they do stink at customer service

that really stinks, sorry to hear about your bad exp. with Ikea. I really love them for their cool designs and even more affordable prices - but being in the actual store drives me beyond the brink of insanity!!!- Last time I was there DH pratically had to drag me out before I killed someone for stepping on my feet ten times in a row!! worst store layout I've ever seen in my life!

They have ordering available through their website now - is this something you could possiblly do online instead?

Great letter!
Before I left to go back to that store, I would of faxed it over to them.

Some businesses just want the sales but not the customer service needs much adjusting.

I think I can top your venting.
3 years ago, I put a deposit down on a car from a car dealer. The next day he called said I was approved for the car loan. Arrangements were made to pick the car up the following night. Well, when I got there with my trade in, my 'newer car' was SOLD. They had my $1000 deposit, and I had no new car. The show room had 2 other desks with customers and I lost it that they had to have me removed from the premises. to make this short, I contacted the BBB, local TV station. I got all my money back in 2 days.

OK, so, here's the update. I got in the car and found the order and receipt for the tables. OK, I thought, I'll drive up to Philly and make a stink anyway. I called my Dad, to tell him that his little girl was on the rampage (just like he would be), and he made me be sensible.

'Rachel, if you have the information that you need to resolve this over the phone, go do it. It'll be less expensive than the 90 minute round trip to the store and you can curse at the person on the phone.' My Dad is the first person to cause a scene at a store (often times when it REALLY isn't necessary), so I knew that if *he* was saying it, it had to be the right thing to do.

So I called them. They still have no love, but they're mailing me my 10 pieces of plastic that could fit in a regular envelope. I will not be nominated, as I didn't perform any scenes today.

And I'm glad you guys got a chuckle out of my letter. It's really in the style that my friend Abbie writes in her blog when she's pissed at the LIRR. Recently, a bunch of her friends have been using the same thing to vent about whatever's annoying us. It helps, really, because it even makes the venter laugh.

Re: GRRRRRRRRRR (venting, ignore if you like)

Something similar happened to me too. We bought a storage bench for the end of the bed on January 1st. At the store they didn't have anymore slipcovers for it, but the man assured us we could purchase it online, well we get home and I look online and the slipcover is WAY backordered!! And the bench can not be used without the slipcover!!! HELLO, don't you think you would make the same amount of benches as slipcovers if you can't use the bench without it!! Anyway, 2 days ago, I finally get the cover, 3 months later!!
