GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I need to vent
So, I started a new job 4 weeks ago and everything has been going great. I like the people and I like the work and so far I have been getting some decent feedback -- I'm still learning the ropes, but I like it.
So, yesterday I spend a good part of the day compiling references to support documents that my team and myself had written. My client needed this today so she could pass it through legal. So, at around 4:30 I gave my administrative assistant the Fed Ex to bring to the mailroom and I stressed the fact that it needed to get there this morning.
I left at 7 and before I left I asked if everything had been taken care of and she said yes.
Early this afternoon, my client calls and wants the Fed Ex tracking number because the Fed Ex has not arrived. I look into this and find out that the package was never sent out. So, I had to now tell my client this and she was not happy and basically ripped me to shreds.
Turns out that my assistant went up to the mailroom at 5:30 and the door was closed so she assumed it was closed. That part is OK because like me, she is new. But, she told me that she sent it out last night. if she had told me that she couldn;t do it last night. I could have dropped it off at Fed Ex myself -- there's one right up the block.
I'm really p*ssed. It's one thing if I miss a deadline or the screw up is of my own doing, but when I meet the damn deadline, and get called to the carpet because of someone else, I hate that
Luckily, my booses are cool and APOLOGIZED to me for my client's behavior and told me it wasn't my fault -- but still I am mad -- I am neurotic about doing a good job.
If I was Trump, I would've said, 'You're fired!'
Thanks for the allowing the rant
