Grrrrr...std vent

Grrrrr...std vent

Grrr...my dad...I love him...but he is driving me crazy. FH showed him the pictures of the STD we were considering. First he said the pictures were to casual. Then I showed him pictures of STD's I had gotten from other web sites. Then he said the picture did not show enough of our faces and that our photog was unprofessional. He then showed me the style of pic that he thought would look good on our magnets and it was a posed wedding photo. I told him that the engagement shots are SUPPOSED to be casual and there will be enough formal posed pictures taken at the wedding. I then warned him that we are planning to have a good majority of the pics be photojournalistic and he said that looks horrible. He is giving me such a stomach ache about something so stupid. Here is the work-in-progress STD FH made and below it is an STD taken off a web site that I based ours on. Am I crazy? Please be honest...I am ready to call my photog up and get more pictures done.

I like the first one. I think thats what they are supposed to look like. You get so many formal pics at the wedding. STDs are supposed to be fun..... I like them, thats jmho!

No way, I love that pic!
Your dad is probably just very traditional. Photojournalism is a relatively new thing, especially for wedding photgraphy!
I am sure that you will get enough posed shots at your wedding to make your dad happy. If the STD thing is so stressful, then why not choose one without a pic of you and FH on it? There are so many styles to choose from.

i agree- the pics are beautiful! i love the STD-
sometimes parents dont understand the 'newer' less traditional aspects...but i would go with it..

My mom doesn't understand the photojournalistic style either. She keeps asking me about the traditional photos like- we are going to have family pictures, right?? Or- are we going to have table shots?? I just don't think that the style was popular when they were married.

Your STD's are beautiful!! Go for it!!

i think your STD is perfect - and the pic is perfect! I think it would look kinda funny if it was just a posed staring-at-the-camera style photo like your dad wants.

I really like yours! A cousin of FI sent theirs out recently and it didn't even have their pic...just a purple flower... so who cares what kind of pic you put on there! Besides it's yours not your dad's!

I totally agree! Definitely pick what you like, but if you can't decide on a photo, I would look what Lauren suggested, there are such great styles available!

I like the one you already have. He probably doesn't realize that people do things a little bit differently nowadays. But remember it is YOUR wedding and try not to get too down. You definitely shouldn't spend more money for pictures you don't want! I agree that if you want to save yourself some grief you can go with an StD without a photo; at least you still had the casual shoot done and can have the pics for yourself!
