How many people should you invite to guarantee 175?

With the economy, the number of 'no's' has gone up. More people are RSVPing 'no'. People are saying to assume 30% will RSVP 'no' today. In the past it was 20%. So, I would say 250.

we invited 230 and ended up with 160

Our guarentee is similiar to your's (160) and we're inviting about 240.

So, if my guarantee is 150, then inviting 200-210 should be okay, or should I invite more?

OH my gosh now I'm nervous... we have a 175 guarantee and we invited 226

We guaranteed 150 because it was the room minimum but I think we are inviting 250.

Traditionally I always heard that around 20% will say no. That is a good point about the economy. Your wedding is in 2010 so maybe it will turn around by the time you send your invites out.
