Gueslist ............How to trim the list!??? x-post

Ladies, How do we come to a medium?
FH want a guestlist of 80people but I have a bigg family. Realistically we will met 125-150 people.... which will mostly be my family...
FH would rather elope if this is the case

Oh my! I have a similiar problem only can go up to 200 people but my guest list is closer to 300!

My mom told me not to do +guest if they are not married or in a serious relationship. That helped me a lot.

GL!!!

I forgot!! LOL a HUGE number was dropped by making it a 21 or older wedding. If we didn't do that we would have had about 50 more people because of FH huge family!

I'm also struggling with this too. FH and I both have really big families. We're thinking of cutting at 1st cousins only, and no dates for people who aren't married or in the Bridal Party.

I'm not sure if that will be enough to cut down the list.

Thank you BrideC! yes, we are having an adult only reception.. def a money saver! i love children but there are soo many in my family ($3000+ worth)

Only invited who you want to invite. But always remember 25% - 30% ppl will not come so dont' forget that. Have an adult reception only. No kids are allowed unless they're in the bridal party.

We wanted MAX 200 (Ideally closer to 170), and in the end, with my huge family, we're inviting over 300, with the likely number to attend at about 275. Here's what made it okay for me after I freaked out and cried for an entire night: My parents showed me the list of people who are being invited, and the list of people who were cut. Once I saw the actual names, and realized I could not eliminate a single person, it became more okay for me. I even moved some people over from the eliminate list to the invite list when I saw close friends not being invited. I would recommend doing this with your FH. Sit and go over the list guest-by-guest so that that number is less a 'number' to him and more a representative of real people.

I'm eliminating the + guest where possible and crossing my fingers that some people don't attend.

Has anyone cut down the guest list to include no 1st cousins either? I think that might be our next move.

We're doing less than 50. We trimmed the guest list to only family and *close* friends (meaning only people that we have talked to within the past year). I had friends who invited me to their weddings and were a little upset, but when I told them we were only inviting 35 (although it is actually more), they seemd to understand. Their weddings were over 100.

Omg I'm having the same issue I origionally said I wanted 175-200 people my guest list is up to 290 and the said thing is there is no one to cut because it is all family and a few close friends...try the no guest thing and also no children that cuts down alittle as well.
