One of my sixth grade students bought us our 400 dollar esprsso machine. I almost fainted today. Is that outrageous or what?

I don't see anything wrong with that. Students give teachers gifts all the time.
It is obvious that his/her parents had to of ordered it for you because I'm sure that your student doesn't have his/her own credit card. (well who knows now a days)

Is it common for your students to give generous gifts during the holidays? That is insane for a student to give....WOW...good for you. Teachers deserve a nice gift once and a while! You know he/she is geting all A's right! haha

Personally I dont think there is anything wrong with that, i mean a gift is a gift and they shipped it to your home. Maybe run it by a coworker you are close it and enjoy your espresso maker!
