So I searched high and low, for a good rate for a hotel for my out of town guests which is mostly my family from down south. I found the perfect place near my house, and it's a great price.
My sister and I even took a tour of the place, becuase we wanted to make sure the place was decent.
So I call to see if anyone has made a reservation...but of course they haven't...and the cut off date is October 29th.
It wouldn't be so bad if certain family members weren't relying on me for a ride to the wedding. They are not familiar with LI, and cannot just pick a place on a map and expect someone to go pick them up the day of the wedding. I have an early ceremony and cannot afford to send one of my groomsmen on journey for an hour to pick up guests so my wedding can be late ..
Just book the dang hotel I asked you to book 5 minutes away from the house..is that asking too much?

Re: Guest Accomodations Rant..
Don't worry - people like to wait until the very last minute to book things. You should call them or send a mass email and remind everyone that the cutoff date is rapidly approaching.
good luck!

I agree w the other ladies. You should make it even more specific by letting them know that if they expect you to organize their travel to and from the wedding, then they HAVE to book asap and call you as to not hold you up on YOUR day. Let them know they'll have to cab it or find their own transport if they don't respond to your email and book the hotel (even if you don't plan on making them fend for themselves...make em sweat a little). I have a morning ceremony too and couldn't imagine having to organize and transport people! I'm stressing just thinking about my BMs making it on time to my house that morning! Good luck...sometimes you have to be a little tough or blunt to get what you want and in this case need.

In your email you should also mention that if they do not book the hotel, they will have to find their own transportation. You should not be responsible to pick them up anyway. It's a nice gesture to pick up guests but it's not necessary. People go on vacations to unfamiliar areas all the time and still manage to get where they need to be. Don't worry yourself!
