I don't see a need for a traditional guest book....I know they aren't all that expensive, but can someone tell me the point?
Do you use it for addresses? Just a record of who signed it?
Did anyone not have any type of guest book??

Re: Guest Book???
we are having a guest book. Really, just for memories of who attended the wedding. They sighn the book, maybe even with little memories, and than you keep it as keepsake. That is really the only reason.
I have been to many weddings without any guest books.

Re: Guest Book???
I don't care for it either. I'm using the pictureframe with a gigantically obnoxious picture of us in the middle and everyone can sign around it. I have also seen the wishes for the bride and groom thing done which is nice for a scrapbook/photoalbum

Re: Guest Book???
We didn't have a guest book and neither 2 of my friends and not one of us regrets it. To be honest with you, when I go to a wedding I usually forget to sign it anyway

Re: Guest Book???
We didn't use one and honestly, I don't think I have ever been to a wedding where they had one (or I didn't notice it and never signed in..) I don't want to put anyone down, but the guest book idea really reminded me of going to a wake and signing in and since both of my parents are deceased, I didn't want that memory on my wedding day. I thought about the big board with the photo, but DH hated that idea, so we didn't do anything.

Re: Guest Book???
I had it and it was a waste. I had it on the placecard table and only two pages were filled up. Unless you designate someone to guide people to it, I think its a waste. People didn't really see it! JMO

Re: Guest Book???
We are having a signing board with a picture of us in which guests can sign around it. My photographer is doing this for us as part of our package. It was one of our engagement pictures. I also like the Polaroid Guest Book. I wanted it to do this as well but think it might be too much.

Re: Guest Book???
We did not do it. It seemed completely unnecessary to me. You have their cards to remember them by.

Re: Guest Book???
We are doing the polaroid guest book and having our coordinator make sure people do it, otherwise I think any kind of guest book is a waste, I dont remember signing any but 1 scroll that was right in your face as you walked into the reception. that was the only time I have ever signed one.

Re: Guest Book???
we didn't use the traditional guest book for that same reason. We had a wishbowl for people to put advice or notes on it -- not everyone did it but those that did had a fun time doing it. They were fun to read

Re: Guest Book???
I am doing the Polaroid guestbook so that when I look at it a few years from now I can reminisce and see what other people looked like and their kind words. Maybe you can sort of think of it like a yearbook...It is great to look at some time down the road and see what people wrote, etc.

Re: Guest Book???
If we do one- we're going to have sign in board also w/ our pic..otherwise we wont do anything at all..everyone I've talked to who had a sign in book said that practically no one signed it or didnt even realize it was there.

Re: Guest Book???
I always thought they were pointless and cheesy too but my mom suggested my cousin (she's a photographer) take polaroids at the cocktail hour and put one together before the reception starts for people to sign. I thought that was an incredible idea.
