My FH and I are paying for our wedding. We would like to keep the guest list to 180 or under. We made a list. Do we ask our parents to make a list too? What if their lists make our 180 go to 300??? I don't want to insult anybody. Has anybody else had this problem?? TIA!

My FH and i are paying for our wedding too. I just asked my parents if they wanted any friends to come that I of course know and won't mind having there..We already know the family members to invite (but i did ask about some family members that i dont know) I also had FMIL make a list of the people she wants to invite (family and close friends)..it didn't turn out to be that much b/c they know we are paying for it. ultimately it's you and your FH's decision since you are paying for it..HTH..sorry so long

Fh and I are paying for our wedding as well. We asked our parents to write a list of family and friends that they would like to have at the wedding. Since I have 3 families to invite and 2 sides are huge, we are prepared for a big wedding. lol...this is why i'm stressing about a job. lol...j/k this is what we want and since we are only going to do it once, we say why not. HTH

Yes, parents should def be able to make some sort of list... At first, I limited my parents to 1 table each of friends, but now theres a bit more so I upped it to 3 tables... pain in my butt!!
Just set down ground rules that the list cant go on forever... Theres a few people FMIL wants to invite that I have no clue who they are (FH doesnt even know em, but we'll manage )

Fh & I like many of you are also paying for our wedding... hence we made our list... I did not ask my parents to make a list, what I did do was show them and ask if I left anyone else of importance off... I was lucky, they were happy and said it was fine the way it was.... If your parents feel the need to add... dont forget to remind them that you have a tight budget and really cannot afford to go over. They will have to accept it because they are not contributing monatary..... Good Luck with everything!
